As a first time guest I’m blown away! (My husband was too and he’s a picky foodie). Absolutely incredible meal. I had the catfish, sweet potatoes, fried corn and mashed potatoes. We also tried the friend chicken tenders- by far the best in South Carolina. Well done.

Finally got the chance to try this place, the restaurant is small , with a industrial vibe decor, we arrived on valentines day , it was set up as a buffet with all the fixings. Shrimp n grits. Waffles, sausage, bacon , eggs, fried chicken, biscuits, home fries, some varieties of beverages ..it was delicious the staff was wonderful and very welcoming, the food delicious and that chicken cheff kiss lip smacking . Overall score 10/10 well done ✔️

One of my favorite restaurants in Spartanburg. This is my go to pick when I have guests in town I want to impress. I’ve never had a bad meal here. Chef Bill is amazing and the whole staff is friendly and provides great service.

We went for the Sunday buffet and got there right as they opened so everything was fresh and hot. Staff was attentive and friendly. The food? My goodness! I tried everything: the catfish (pretty standard flavor and good), fried chicken (super crispy with a slight sweet flavor), turkey-stuffing roulade (tender with very light gravy), lamb chops (really neat to see these on a buffet), Mac and cheese (nothing spectacular but still really good), mashed potatoes (really thick and creamy—should have gone back for seconds), greens (had smoked turkey chunks and sausage, not vinegary and perfect consistency) sweet potato casserole (not overly sweet-a plus), and green beans with mushrooms (the mushrooms had a very smoky taste that I loved but I could see it being a turn-off for some).
Banana pudding for dessert that was almost like a buttercream consistency—fantastic!!
My only “complaint” is they didn’t have the price listed anywhere. It was $26pp. That might seem steep but the variety and quality made it absolutely worth the price. We’ll be back during the week to try the regular menu!

The service here is just as unforgettable as the food. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm, friendly faces that made us feel right at home. The staff was incredibly attentive. It’s the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like family and turns a great meal into an unforgettable experience.

We visited this soul food restaurant for the first time, and wow—Chef Patricia truly knows what she’s doing. The fried fish came out perfectly crispy, the fried chicken was juicy with incredible seasoning, and the BBQ chicken had that smoky, tender flavor I love. The mac and cheese was rich and creamy, and the ribs fell off the bone. As a first-timer, I was blown away. We are already planning our next visit!

I stopped in on a Sunday for a quick bite of food, and it was absolutely amazing. Real good food!!!!!! They have a buffet, or you can order from a full menu. I went back to catch their Saturday brunch, and the food was amazing. The food was absolutely amazing (repeated for emphasis)… if you are in the area, try them out. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and all-around amazing.

Found this restaurant on Google. Didn’t realize it had a buffet. Ended up ordering from the menu. I was looking forward to the smoked brisket Benedict because brisket & Benedict are my favorite! My husband also ordered off the menu, chicken on biscuits with grits and bacon. The restaurant was VERY busy on a Saturday late morning and it appeared most people came for the buffet. We had a long wait for our food and the brisket wasn’t available, so I ordered the waffle instead. We weren’t in a hurry and the staff was very apologetic for the long wait. The food is so delicious! Everything is made from scratch. No need to salt or pepper this food. The flavor of the grits was spot on. They were creamy and had a hint of chicken. Just melt in your mouth good. The Belgian waffle was yummy and the strawberry sauce, fresh and sweet. My husband loved his meal too. I asked for banana pudding for dessert. The portion was large and that pudding was pure love. No soggy cookies. No whipped cream needed to cover up lack of flavor here. All goodness and happy tastebuds this day! Come support this proudly black-owned business. You won’t regret it.

We decided to try this restaurant for breakfast after reading so many glowing reviews online, and I have to say we left very disappointed. When we arrived, we were told breakfast was buffet-style until 10:30, so we went with that option. At $17.50 per person, we expected a decent spread, but what we got was honestly worse than most hotel breakfasts I’ve had.

The breakfast potatoes tasted like frozen ones that had just been reheated with seasoning. The eggs were cold, runny, and had a strange texture. The biscuits and gravy were a huge letdown—the gravy was so thin it just slid right off. Even the basics weren’t done well, and there wasn’t a single item on the buffet that made me want to go back for seconds.

The whole experience felt overpriced and underwhelming, especially considering how much other people had built this place up online. The interior of the restaurant was cute and the staff was friendly, which was about the only positive. After rereading other reviews, it seems most people recommend the lunch and dinner menus, so maybe that’s where they shine. But as far as breakfast goes, I wouldn’t recommend it and definitely won’t be returning for the buffet.

McClellan’s at Monarch cafe’ there is literally a picture of a breakfast served from your restaurant directly under my review! I 1000% did not review the wrong restaurant. But if that makes your poor quality buffet better, you just keep telling yourself I reviewed the wrong restaurant.

My favorite breakfast foods are on their Saturday breakfast bar! Mimosa was really good. Great energy and conversation within both the service and atmosphere.

Great location with indoor and outdoor seating. Wonderful chef….

Update: Had the opportunity to visit Monarch Cafe again. Came in for the Sunday Jazz Brunch. OMG…… The atmosphere was A1. The sax player provided a warm laid back vibe that definitely gets you in the mood for food and drinks. Both of which were also excellent. But I must highlight the food….. The buffet offered so many wonderful options. If you are in the area, please do not pass this place up!
