We stopped in for a quick lunch on our trip to Jasper and The Ozark Cafe did not disappoint! Fantastic burgers and charming atmosphere. Our waitress Jessica was very good, attentive and friendly. When we pass through Jasper again, we will definitely be back!

Was happy to wait the extra 40 minutes to get a table, but not fond of taking the first bite of my burger to have 2 black hairs come out of my mouth, still fully attached in the rest of the burger. I let the waitress know, and she went ahead to get another burger made.
They did not seem very concerned at all that it happened. Still charged full price, along with a large bumper sticker to share the good news.
I’ve never been one to ever send food back, but to have someone’s hair in my mouth and still attached to the burger, and the staff not really care, doesn’t sit right with me.
Fries were decent. Service was ok. Might find a new place to stop.

Fantastic place for breakfast. They have chocolate biscuits and gravy; the gravy is pure chocolate and the biscuits are made fresh each day. Huge menu of offerings for all meals and the servers are awesome as can be.

Staff was very friendly! Treat customers like you’ve always known them. Food was great & had comfort food options. Love that they’re keeping one of the oldest restaurants going! Gorgeous floors & bar area. They also have a small gift shop for souvenirs. We purchased a few items. Highly recommend this as a goto place! Will come back when in the area!

During my workday, I found myself within 20 minutes of Jasper. I messaged my wife, and she suggested I bring food home, but I was reluctant since we live an hour and a half from there. All day, I thought about those fantastic burgers, and came up with a plan. I drove on into Jasper after work, and told the Ozark Cafe crew my plan. I ordered two Zesty burgers (a BBQ bacon burger) with their crispy fries (hand cut and lightly breaded). They prepared the burgers so they wouldn’t get soggy on the drive home, and I wrapped the containers in a towel and another plastic bag to keep them hot. Everything stayed warm and we put the fries in the air fryer for a few minutes to crisp them up. Even with the long drive home, burgers from the Ozark Cafe are by far the absolute best burgers in the Ozarks! If you haven’t been there, the restaurant has been in the same building on the square since 1909, full of nostalgia, and that laid-back Buffalo National River vibe. It’s been a favorite spot since my parents took me there for the first time back in the 70’s. Its more than just a great place to eat, ita a piece of Ozark history.

Huge portions are hot and fresh. I love all the photos of history on the walls. This place is a national treasure.

Spent over $100 in 24 hours at this restaurant. Food was good the night before so we thought we’d try it for lunch today as well. I ordered the mushroom & Swiss chicken dinner plate for almost $20. Not sure if it’s the owner James or the cook there who has reading comprehension issues but my food was made wrong. I walked home, started eating my food. My fries were hard, burnt, stuck together, and dry and the cheese I substituted on the chicken wasn’t anywhere to be found. I called the restaurant back. They said they would replace. I walked back over, and the girl brings my food out (I’m assuming actually made the way I ordered it this time). She asks me for the other order of food. She could have told me she needed it but didnt. I was so hungry that I actually ate some of the fries and I gave the chicken Swiss masacre to my daughter because she actually likes Swiss. They refused to refund me. They refused to give me the right food. I called and talked to the owner, he was rude and sarcastic the entire time speaking to me like a child visiting jasper with their family, instead of an adult who lives in the community. He stammered something about giving away a free meal. Okay so I bring the food back then what? It goes in the trash so it’s still a free meal.. right…?
Obviously James’ critical thinking skills are lacking just as much as his customer service skills. The food is decent but overpriced, I won’t be back on principle alone.

A must if you are touring the area. The food is good & the staff love chatting about & sharing the history. Country fried steak was incredibly tender, the homemade yeast rolls taste like grandma’s, the fried mushrooms & okra!!! Yum yum yum
