It might be hard to see in the picture but in the middle of the plate for our volcano roll—which was delicious—is a flame! What a surprise! The presentation at Oyama was remarkable. However, to be honest, the food left something to be desired. The curry soup was extremely salty. I got the impression the chef did not sample it before serving it. If it had been less salty and little sweeter, it would have been perfect. The plating for the Philadelphia roll could have been better too; the pieces were not separated so it looked like the sections were much bigger than they were. It took a few bites and some handling to realize that one piece was actually two. Similarly, for the volcano roll, the pieces were overly large. I would prefer them to be bite-sized or smaller. To me, sushi is about balance of flavors. I felt that the volcano roll was too heavy to fit neatly in one bite and be appreciated properly. Overall, the cuisine at Oyama was of good quality and very filling, with some room for improvement. The service and atmosphere were okay—attentive and welcoming, but lacking some warmth and friendliness. Despite these minor points of feedback, I am glad to have tried Oyama and could see myself back to try more of the wide variety of offerings on the menu.

This seems like a family place, lots of big groups of family coming in for a meal together. I ordered the best deal in their menu which was the Bento Box dor $25. It came with 6 California rolls, shrimp and vegetable tempura, fried dumplings, soup and your choice of protein, mine was Salmon teriyaki. The food was pretty standard. The salmon was a good portion. I think it’s a decent place to have a nice Japanese dinner, nothing too exciting but not much to complain about either.

My husband and I have been coming here since before COVID, during COVID and after! No matter what – food has always been consistently great. Servers are very friendly and the prices are very reasonable. One of the last places hubby and I can go out to eat and not spend over $60 for the two of us! The gyoza and bento boxes are the best – we can share!

My husband and I went out to eat here last week with a friend. The food was excellent and the presentation also looked good. I was impressed that our server was still attentive to us despite being the only server and he was serving four other tables besides us at the same time. I really enjoyed their sashimi and sushi and look forward to being back. I was also pleasantly surprised that they had fatty tuna and sweet shrimp. They were out of sea urchin but our waiter let us know that if we come again on Friday’s, there will be more.

Phenomenal food!! I loved the hibachi scallops with chicken and got a really delicious mango sushi roll. This was a great place for date night and all of the staff was very attentive and friendly. We will be back!! Loved this place. ❤️

The sushi was so fresh it seemed to tell a story as we went through the different rolls we ordered. Our server was exceptional. He was very attentive all while managing the 6 tables and the constant take orders that were going out while we were there all by himself.

Clean, pleasant acoustics, attentive wait staff.
We ordered spicy Miso soup and coconut curry soup. The miso came with mushrooms altho not listed on the menu. It also had vegetables that were very firm. The broth flavor was great but the crunchy vegetables and mushrooms were unpleasant.
The seaweed salad was excellent and large! We love fresh spring rolls so decided to try them here. It was 85% dark leaf lettuce, plus other veggies and the one large shrimp. The dipping sauce was too rich and thick for this salad roll. All 4 sushi rolls we ordered we beautiful and delicious. I would prefer less chopped fish mix because of the texture but the flavor was good. Our waiter was excellent, especially at 2pm when it’s slow.

Just Mendin
A quiet, quaint and under-the-radar sushi spot. Has 4.6 ✨ for good reason. I’m a bit of a food snob and believe this is one of the best sushi places in the west metro. Definitely a must-stop.
