Was recommended location. Nice atmosphere. Quick service. Nice servers. Fresh food. Regular prices for sushi. We had an appetizer that was the softshell crab. It tasted light and with a little dipping sauce, we then had three sushi rolls, the scorpion at the left dark. Then the superstar in the middle had a strawberry glaze on it, then on the very right is the twister. Out of the three, I think the scorpion rule had the most flavor and was our favorite. The second one we were kind of each liked the different remaining too. The twister was a little spicy which I loved

This is the best sushi in town! My family regularly gets take out from this place and it is always so fresh and delicious. They are quick and efficient whether you dine in or take out. I love how unique and tasty their specialty rolls are. My favorites are the Iowa City roll and the Friendship roll. Also, their lunch special is a steal! Can’t recommend Oyama enough.

Met friends for a celebration dinner, and everyone enjoyed their dinner. We love that we can all find something from fried tofu to chicken teriyaki and all the sushi rollllllllsssss. My favorite is the avocado and peanut roll.

Oyama is unbeatable. It is by far the best sushi I’ve had anywhere in the Midwest (including Chicago and Minneapolis) I also lived in California, where they are obsessed with sushi, and Oyama is still in my top three all-time sushi spots.

Oh this is the best Sushi in Iowa City! It’s not just the variety of fish they have (which is diverse) or the light crispness of their tempura (try the veggie appetizer) but there’s something—like an almond roasted quality to the seaweed wrap they use in their rolls that’s just… Well, it adds another dimension of richness to the flavor. Even the basic Spicy Tuna and Eel rolls are special somehow, and I’m a guy who likes his Unagi!

I went here with my sister and brother in law for a late lunch. The food was amazing, prompt, and well displayed. We ordered the sashimi appetizer, a squid dish, salmon teriyaki, last summer roll, demon roll, and fish cake. I also ordered tempura ice cream which is not the standard corn flakes on ice cream. I had to get more food delivered to me the next day. 10/10.

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Horrible service. Rude staff. Food took almost 2 hours and we had to ask for water and silverware after 30min of just sitting and waiting. There are too many great sushi places around town to put up with this horrible service.

I promise you that this is the BEST sushi in Iowa City/Coralville area. This is my favorite spot! Great food, always fresh, prepared with attention to detail. My favorite is the sakura roll! A close second is the sunshine roll (replace the tuna with salmon). The squid nigiri is good too! They definitely don’t skimp out on the protein like other sushi places, the rolls themselves are huge/decently sized. The only area for improvement is that the wait time can be 50+ mins during peak times! But the yummy food makes up for it! Good stuff!
