Worth it if you can get a reservation or somehow score a walk in. When we tried Monday evening the waiting area was full of people waiting so we checked online and were able to book a 5pm table for Tuesday. Everything we ordered was delicious and the quality of fish was great. We had sockeye sake nigiri, the wasabi Wala roll, oya rocks roll and the salmon oshizushi. The oshizushi I think is all about the spectacle because who doesn’t like seeing food lit on fire tableside? Realistically though we enjoyed the raw salmon more. Would recommend and come back for another meal.

Had 3 wonderful experiences there. Their tan tan men is a spicy wonder after a day outside. Recommending the agedashi and croquettes as apps. We enjoyed the oya rocks, R2D2, golden dragon and al Pacino. All excellent!
Definitely make reservations in advance for dinners, likely prior to arrival to resort.
Service can be a bit lacking when there are lots of ppl. They are very nice, but obviously just busy.
Will definitely return!

Had a great experience eating here after a full day of snowboarding. We ordered spring rolls, gyoza, miso ramen, tuna tataki, miso soup & spicy salmon roll everything tasted great, our server was nice and was accommodating. Worth every penny! We’ll come back again.
Just unfortunate we didn’t took good pictures as we were starving! Lol

Always popular. Book in advance or there will only be bar service or take out. Seating for 2 groups and 4 couples plus 8 at the bar. Recommend the Oshizushi.

Great dinner here. We had an early reservation and were seated immediately. Service was quick and friendly. The food was excellent! We loved the torched salmon and the takoyaki the most (octopus puffs). We would go back next time we visit Sun Peaks!

If you want a fabulous Japanese meal in a small beautiful uncrowded ski resort then come eat at Oya in Sun Peaks. Canada!! The good is absolutely delicious by any standards and that comment is coming from a diehard New York City resident who loves and appreciates great food. The broccolini is to die for and the wonton soup, soft shell crab, sushi rolls… are definitely worth living for. The place has a very nice vibe and of course the restaurant is extremely busy for dinner with reservations highly recommended. They also do takeouts. No deserts… but who cares. There is a wonderful made to order mini donut shop just down the street if there is any room left, unlikely though. In summary, Oya is a gem. I ate there the last 3 days and I plan to eat there every day until I leave.

If you come here, you HAVE to order the Tenderloin and the Salmon Oshi. Both were 10/10. Great food, super fast service!!

Fresh seafood perfectly prepared and plated! The sashimi was the favourite for fresh & clean/pure, while the mango & shrimp was top in taste!
We enjoyed 6 or more dishes, most were perfect, however the grilled octopus was slightly under-whelming as it lacked seasoning and zero char taste, with its bed of rice taking over in flavour. I prefer clean, but tasty can still be achieved
Oya offers a large selection of saki, warm or cold, as well 4 Japanese beers (1 dark).
Atmosphere received 4-stars because of the loud western pop music. Even K-Pop would have added to the atmosphere, and I am not a fan of it.

Even with a reservation we had to wait for our table to flip. This place was packed, but worth the wait. Even with the wait, the service and food still earn 5 stars! The menu is deep, for food, cocktails, whisky and dark beer! The quality of food is top notch and service was excellent. Quality ingredients, creative rolls and a nice balance of heat in the spicy options!
