I’ve been going here since it opened. The staff is great. A nice well stocked bar and some good craft beers. The menu features some rather electic offerings. No diet dishes. The deviled eggs are great. The noise level is above conversation level. Some good music on weekends.

The food is ok, the service is ok, but the bartenders need to make consistent drinks. One shakes the drink somewhat correct but the other one shakes it gently twice. Shaken gently twice the drink is not properly blended and not very tasty.
Probably won’t be going back anytime soon, unless they learn how to make drinks properly and constantly.

My wife and I arrived at Harris Beach State Park late yesterday afternoon. By the time we settled the RV, it was after 7 pm on a Saturday night. After traveling all day with only a bagel since breakfast, we were starving and too tired to cook. We were surprised to find most regular dining spots in Brookings closing at 8 pm, even on a weekend!
Luckily, we found Oxenfrē Public House, one of the few places open later. What a fortunate discovery! The place has a great, authentic bar atmosphere, but it offers so much more. They boast a great draft beer selection and an impressive shelf filled with excellent Scotch, bourbon, and rye. I had one of the best Old Fashioned cocktails I’ve ever tasted there. Plus, the staff were wonderful!
And the food? Definitely not your average bar fare! The short ribs were delicious, the fries were super tasty, and my wife declared the mac & cheese exceptional (and trust me, she’s an expert!).
We went in looking for any open restaurant and ended up having a fantastic meal with great drinks and service. Highly recommended, especially if you’re looking for quality food and drinks later in the evening in Brookings!

Holy moly this place is INCREDIBLE!!!! Highly recommend the fried shrimp taco, carnitas taco w/ fried lardons, the bbq short ribs, and omg the tempura fried deviled eggs are OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!! Lots of delicious stand items to choose from but another section of their menu has unusual and creative dishes to think about and try. I recommend the four lettuce cups with shirt ribs of beef. Or the juicy hamburger with also a slice of tender pork belly on top.

WOW! We came in last night with a huge party. We were immediately seated and the servers were fantastic. The food, even better! We were surprised to have such an elevated meal in a public house! We did wish the TVs were a little bigger, but don’t miss this place!

We did not avail ourselves of the atmosphere as we made an online order and picked it up.
On the day we went, Saturday evening they were short on staff and could only offer the bar menu. We had four fried chicken and Belgian waffle w/pub fries. OUTSTANDING!!! The seasonings were delicious. Check out the ingredients on the menu. For desert we had the Bourbon, bacon milkshake. I recommend desert first and have two!!! Responsibly of course.
The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly.
We will go back in the future to try the full menu. We also appreciated the late night accommodations.
