I’ve searched for some time for a good nam kod and owl owl delivered a crispy crunchy flavor bomb rice dish worth to be declared as the house specialty dish. I think its a must order everytime you visit!
Laos sausage, lemongrass and herbs of flavor paired with two kinds of dipping sauce…if youre not used to lao style sausage it may seem a little on the dry side for some but this place is not as dry as other places I’ve tried in the past. Would be interesting if they were to evolve it and mix some more fats into it to be more western style and juicy while maintaining that traditional lao flavors.
Larb or Laap gai(chicken)- take a look at my photo and notice how its larger pieces of meat rather than the overly ground up kind. This allowed it to be tender and juicy with very balanced flavors. They also had the toasted rice powder in it which is a must. Pad see ew, balanced, flavorful, if I were to be nit picky, maybe the noodle was a little too soft but others might have enjoyed that more like my wife.
The Somtum Lao Style Papaya Salad with tomatoes, is flavored with fermented fish sauce. Its salt, crisp, and fresh umami flavor. Its a bit heavy on the fish sauce, next time I’ll ask to be easy on the sauce and have a little on the side. Also ordered the Pork Belly Plate. It’s tender and melts in your mouth.
This is a counter service with small dining area. The staff are helpful with a warm smile.

Caveat, growing up eating homemade Lao food, am a bit selective.
Kao poon. Broth is how I remember with chicken, semi sweet (coconut), salty, and a bit spicy. Additional dry chili topping but would have preferred fresh chilies.
Mok pla. Could use more spice, otherwise other than the salmon, similar flavor especially with the herbs, the dill is what gives it a nice herby fragrance.
Pad woon sen. With chicken. Good but not quite enough. Missing the soy/oil aroma, a hint of it is there but not strong enough for me and the noodle a bit overcooked and prefer with tomatoes for acidity.
Highlights of the menu:
1. Somtum platter
2. Laos sausage
3. Ka prow
4. Moo ping
5. Pad thai
6. Mango sticky rice
7. Thai iced tea
