The Owl is THE go-to in Eureka, especially if you’re looking for a relaxing dining spot between Reno and Ely. I’ve stopped here for almost thirty years, many times on solo motorcycling trips, between Inyo County and Montana. There is nothing more rewarding that to survive a challenging wind-driven summer monsoon on Hwy 50 only to arrive in Eureka and go directly to the warmth and respite of the Owl. They have a good vegetarian sandwich (great fries), good Caesar salad, and a menu of satisfying American comfort food offerings. It’s classic Nevada, classic American West, in the heart of the Great Basin, one of the few places that has retained its original character and is still in business.

We got coffee while waiting for our to-go-order and it was absolutely stone cold. Another diner was served very cold French fries. It was a 45 minute wait for our grilled sandwiches. They’re hiring for wait staff, bartending and cooking positions, so they are evidently short-staffed, but there were only three of us in the restaurant and two in the bar while we were there. On the plus side, the staff was friendly, they refunded the coffees, our food was tasty and they made my order custom, off the menu.

Super neat spot! If you want a chunk of history and an amazing meal, try The Owl Club! Incredibly clean, and well kept. The preservation work is top notch for sure. So A+ on atmosphere, excellent food and sweet timely service. Able took care of us, bringing hot, fresh chow, with a smile! Awesome old timey vibe — you’ve gotta try it!!

Great for a quick respite on a drive across the loneliest highway in America. The regulars are the type that seem to be attached to their stools, unfortunately they smoke and I always forget there are still states that allow smoking in restaurants.

I had dinner there Sunday before last. The waitress, the cook, the barmaid, the atmosphere and the onion rings were all excellent. The waitress helped me with my order and was very easy to talk to. The onion rings were done exactly how I like them. The cook and I gave each other thumbs up when they were delivered. The barmaid was friendly, fun to talk to. The bar is classic.

Service was ok. Had to ask for more to drink. Food was pretty good. The grilled chicken wasn’t the best but the mashed potatoes was amazing.

We had drinks at the bar. No food service. No one was eating that I saw. The service was excellent, the bar tender was kind and helpful. The patrons were locals and very friendly. Funny but.. difficult to find the correct entrance door!
