The Overlook Restaurant is a dining experience I look forward to when heading to Asheville NC. The dining room is spacious with plenty of natural light (and sometimes you can spot a zipline landing just outside the window!) and is beautiful. The food is delicious (the breakfast bar is a favorite) — but here’s their secret sauce: the staff/servers. Some have been there for years. They’re friendly, very attentive to needs, and make you feel like, well, like you’re home.

Stopped by here for a quick dinner and had such an amazing time all around. Food was delicious, cocktails crafted perfectly, atmosphere was incredible, and staff was awesome! Thank you. Can’t wait to stop by again soon.

Dined here for the first time, arrived for brunch. The food was fair, but nothing exceptional, and the prices were reasonable. Entering the hotel lobby, it was beautiful, clean and very elegant, and the restaurant looked relatively nice to sit down. First impression was the meal would be elevated to match the surroundings. The waiter was nice, but slow to refill our drinks when they were empty, even with only 4 other diners. The buffet was clean and the food looked appetizing, but it was bland and basic. The coffee was bitter and tasted old. It could not be disguised, no matter how much sugar and cream I added. The yogurt parfait bar was the best part of the dining experience. Overall, not the greatest restaurant food, but not the worst. I would dine there again, but next time I’ll just know what to expect.

We were seated and they were very slow. There were maybe 3 other tables being tended to, and a server came to the table next to ours twice but no one ever came to our table to even greet us or take our drink orders. We waited for almost 10 minutes without anyone approaching us so we got up and walked out. We went down the road to the Double Tree, rooftop restaurant, was seated within 5 minutes, greeted almost immediately and drink orders taken all within 5 minutes and they were slammed. No excuse for the lack of prompt service. I’ve stayed at the Crown Plaza in Rhode Island on multiple occasions and frequented their onsite restaurants/bar and was always taken care of quickly and professionally. Very disappointed with the Ashville location.

LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING – Cautious Consideration Advised: Unfavorable Dining Experience

It is with a heavy heart that I feel compelled to share my recent encounter at this particular restaurant. While the dining room may exude an ambiance of sophistication and elegance, it regrettably fails to uphold the standards of quality and cleanliness that one would expect from a reputable establishment.

Firstly, it is disconcerting to note that the restaurant received a sanitation score of 95, which is deemed unacceptable for a dining establishment. This rating raises concerns about the adherence to proper food handling and cleanliness protocols, potentially compromising the well-being of patrons.

During our visit, my companions and I ordered two burgers accompanied by fries. To our dismay, the quality of the food was remarkably poor, both in terms of preparation and hygiene. Tragically, the aftermath of our meal resulted in an unfortunate bout of food poisoning that lasted for an agonizing five hours into the night. The physical discomfort endured during this time left us unable to find respite in sleep.

It is disheartening to report that when we reached out to the management, comprised of individuals named Lori, Amy, and Kacy, their response regarding a possible refund was disappointing. They explicitly stated that no reimbursement would be provided, displaying a lack of empathy and understanding toward the distressing situation we experienced.

Considering the circumstances, I strongly advise against dining at this establishment. The combination of low food quality, unsatisfactory cleanliness standards, and the unwillingness of the management to address customer concerns leaves much to be desired. I encourage you to explore alternative dining options that prioritize customer satisfaction, hygiene, and culinary excellence.

Please exercise caution and make an informed decision when selecting a dining venue that aligns with your expectations and prioritizes your well-being.

I was honestly shocked how few people were here. The food was delicious. We had the shrimp tacos, cauliflower risotto and raspberry cheesecake. I literally ordered a second cheesecake to go because it was so good. The restaurant is hiding inside the hotel. It was too dark to see outside but I’m sure the view is amazing.

My friend Sheila and I are still raving about the delicious dinner and dessert we enjoyed a few hours ago from Overlook Restaurant. The service and attention to detail made our time there very enjoyable. Chef DJ, Joseph, Cristelia and the other staff were very courteous and friendly. We look forward to dining at Overlook Restaurant again when we’re in the Asheville area.
I wish I had taken more photos of our food.

We were quite delighted by the perfectly prepared and plated food and drinks at the Crowne Plaza Asheville Resort. Everyone was exceptionally friendly and more than accommodating to our specific requests.
My husband ordered the center-cut Sirloin with blue cheese, garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. I ordered a tuna special topped with citrus veggies and rice. We both requested rare and both arrived as desired. We ended the meal with a raspberry cheesecake.
The new food and beverage manager was terrific along with Patsy the hostess and our server Salam.
The property is older but well-maintained and once the curtains were open, the evening view overlooking the resort was nice.

We ordered room service from the Overlook and it was OK. I usually elaborate on my reviews but I can’t on this one. Due to COVID-19 you have to pick up the food at the bar as they won’t deliver it to your room. By the time they call you to pick it up, you walk to the bar and back to your room, the food is cold. Ugh. The food was your typical hotel restaurant room service.

Service was quick. The turkey club was one of the beat I have had. Many times club sandwiches tend to be overloaded and difficult to eat. This was, while well built, was balanced. The avocado was a nice touch. The fries were overflowing the basket in which they were served, similar to the way they are served in German and Swiss restaurants. They were perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Recommend.
