Had a delicious hot honey fried chicken sandwich for lunch. Quality atmosphere was amazing. The fries were delicious but next time I would add a salad because it’s lucky even better.

Don’t let the fact that this restaurant is in a motor Lodge hotel fool you. I looked it up before arriving and saw it had great reviews, and the menu looked amazing for something different. And we were not disappointed. We were a little surprised by the location of it, but so glad we went inside. We had the frog legs , the potato broccolini soup, the trout on top of the sensational salad and a dry cider and a cocktail. Everything was amazing. The service was great and it was actually a very cute interior. Highly recommend.

Just ate at Over Yonder and wow — absolutely incredible. I had the chicken fried chicken, fried chicken legs, and the sourdough bread, and everything was spot on. The chicken was perfectly crispy and juicy, and the sourdough bread was amazing for soaking up all the goodness on the plate.
Great Appalachian comfort food, awesome atmosphere, and definitely one of the best meals I’ve had in Boone. If you’re hungry and wandering through town, follow the smell and stop here.

The food was fantastic. We had the shrimp and grits, chicken fried chicken, and the meatloaf meatballs. The velva’s cake with the coconut pineapple ice cream. Our server was incredible as well. She brought ice for our teas without us asking which is rare. Everything was amazing.

We used to love over yonder in its original location and really looked forward to trying them in the new location. Since this was a favorite dining spot previously our excitement fell super hard when the atmosphere was too loud to even hold a conversation. The menu was small and made no culinary logic in its offering. Our server was as uninformed about the menu as she was uninterested in serving us. And the food…that was the ultimate disappointment. The soup was starchy tasteless and inedible. The fried okra was way too salty. The pork burger tasted like refried barbecue hooked up with a bad crabcake, the taste and texture was really just offensive. The Wagyu sandwich (special) was as tough as shoe leather and lacked any real flavor. Literally the most inedible disappointingly expensive waste of time and money. I don’t think I will be giving them a second chance after such a bad dining experience overall. If you were expecting a dining experience like the original over yonder, don’t.

Over Yonder is such a cool little spot. The vibe is cozy and relaxed, and it feels like one of those places you could hang out at for hours. The food was really good and tasted super fresh, and everything came out quick. The staff was friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. If you’re in Boone and want something laid-back with good food and a nice atmosphere, Over Yonder is definitely worth checking out.

We came in between service after a long road trip. I guess they close the restaurant in between lunch and dinner. We were allowed to sit in the bar area though. We were quickly greeted and waited on. All the food and drinks were unique and amazing. The staff has great suggestions too. We really enjoyed the whole experience and will come back when we are in town.

What a DELICIOUS find!
My husband and I had a really great lunch *Over Yonder* with our 4 year old son. Their staff is impeccable and wonderfully kind. Snow lightly falling when we arrived really kicked the ambiance up a notch.
Definitely recommend their chicken sandwich – it is AN INCREDIBLE CULINARY EXPERIENCE. The okra crisps were the best and most surprising addition to our meal.
You won’t be disappointed, and if you are – then I’m going to say that is most likely a *you* problem and has nothing to do with the food, the service, or the restaurant.

After debating our hardest daily decision—where to eat—we finally landed here, and I’m so glad we did! I ordered the quiche and salad, and my husband had the breakfast plate. Both were absolutely delicious! We’ve been here before just for drinks and loved it then too. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and we especially love the cozy fireplace outside. This is somewhere you can go and actually have a conversation, Such a charming little getaway right in the heart of Boone!

Over Yonder is such a fun surprise — tucked inside the newly restored Rhodes Motor Lodge between Boone and Blowing Rock. The whole place has this great modern-meets-retro vibe — kind of hip but still laid-back and comfortable, like a cool roadside inn that knows how to do things right.
The trout was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had — cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and impossible not to finish every bite. The cocktails were spot on too, and the bartenders and staff couldn’t have been friendlier. It’s one of those places where everything just works — great food, great drinks, great people. Definitely a new favorite in the High Country.
