Sorry, but Level Five Cafe´ is just not up to par with the outstanding performances of the Guthrie Theatre stages. Menu is limited and therefore shoud be changed up from time to time. Food that should be hot is always lukewarm or cooler. Often no bread left, and desserts aren’t that great. The wine however was fine.
If you can get your act together, this convenient cafe´ could be a great pre-show of of what’s to follow for the evening. I have faith in you, but won’t be comig back unless changes are made. Thank you…

All the restaurants around were full so we came here before a show. There was a big piece of plastic wrap in one of our salads AND the salads (two of us in our group of five had salads) were pretty rotten (lettuce was turning yellow even BROWN). Ravioli was ok, mac n cheese was decent, pork sandwich was good. We complained to the waiter (good service) and we were directed to the manager. She got us all free drinks and gave us the rotten salads for free. She then came by to let us know that it was “Yellow Kale” as in that is a “type” of kale. Upon googling this, we found that yellow Kale does not exist. Good place to go if you’re desperate for food!

Level Five is the more casual option at the Guthrie. Menu is tries to be a little creative, but not wacky, most inventions work out. Not suitable for little kids. I have had pretty good luck with entrees there, it’s ok if you don’t come in with high expectations like some reviewers here. Sandwiches/burgers are pretty good and reliable. Staff can get frazzled, slow and inattentive if there are a lot of plays performing at the same time. Better luck with one performance nights. Drink menu incorporates cleverly-named drinks related to the evening’s show. Generally, this is a good, low-key pre-performance option.

I was so very disappointed by this restaurant. Since it is located inside of the Gutherie Theater, I was expecting it to be a classy restaurant. As a person who does not eat meat or dairy, I do not expect all restaurants to have options on their menu that accommodate. However, most restaurants I have been to are willing to adjust something on the menu and/or do something simple like toss pasta with veggie in olive oil. I asked our server to talk with the chef to see what options we could do. The only thing suggested was a salad with no cheese. Also, we were almost late to our show due to the server not getting our bills to us quickly.

I’m not sure what has happened here. The service has gotten very bad. We have given it a couple tries this year and been disappointed both times. No contact after being seated, the server never asked to refill or order more drinks or check on us at all, no offer to order desert and like pulling teeth to get your check. That being said, he had many tables all around us. The experience here has been in steady decline for several years. We will spend our restaurant dollars someplace else nearby when we come here for performances.

The food has always been good; I appreciate the changing menu; mall portions and perhaps a bit overpriced, but worth, with the east of being at the Guthrie pre-theatre. Service has always been just fine. No complaints!

Dinner last night at the Level Five, not our first visit but this time their Fennel soup had a good flavor but way too much salt and they might have shopped Cub to get coupon “2 for $5 Dinner Rolls”

Service was very good and professional but when we commented about the salt level in the soup and the table next to us commented on the blandness of their dinner pasta I got the feeling that these inputs would never be passed on to the kitchen staff or management, I might be wrong.
