Came in for the happy hour expecting a decent casual bite, but the experience was disappointing overall.
The food was very greasy and nothing really stood out. The wings were smaller than expected, the shrimp was bland, and everything tasted pretty generic. It felt more like heavy bar food than something you’d go out of your way for.
Service was also slow and unfriendly, even though the restaurant was mostly empty at the time.
The biggest issue was the 10% NFDF “tourism fee” added to the bill. I asked for it to be removed, but the staff refused. This isn’t a government tax, and customers should have the option to decline it. That left a pretty sour impression at the end of the meal.
Also worth noting: the nearby hotel no longer validates parking for this location, even though it’s still implied in some places.
Overall, nothing terrible, but nothing worth coming back for either—especially with the extra fee and poor service.
We used a $30 coupon from our hotel ( hotel provided coupons for other restaurants) – note coupon is valid if you order 2 entrees.
This is not a turn off of because it was plenty of food but the coleslaw wasn’t great. Definitely worth trying this place. If you are visiting during the busy season your experience is likely to differ.
Ordered a B-52 coffee to be served before meal, it took the whole 20 minutes wait, when the coffee is brought to me, the coffee is already cold. Then I ask for a stirrer or a spoon to stir the cream before i can drink the B-52, it took another 10 minutes to wait for it. And she brought me a big soup serving spoon. Kind of ridiculous. The worse out of the worse, the taste is awful, just a waste of time and money. I would never recommend this restaurant, not just because of the food quality not worth the price, servers are mean. There is no greetings when we walk in, we stand in front to wait for reception for 5 minutes,, one server walk by, he does not greet us, instead, he said “you have to wait” in a very rude and mean manner.
There are a lot more better choices for other restaurant with this kind of price they charged. Not a good place for steak. Food has no taste.
First off, the staff were amazing! Everyone we interacted with was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere itself was great clean, lively, and welcoming.
That said, I do have to mention a couple of downsides. The prices are very expensive for what you get, and while my steak was cooked exactly how I ordered, the quality was just okay. It wasn’t bad, but I’ve had better (and cheaper) steak at places like State & Main or even Montana’s.
Overall, it’s not a bad spot if you’re looking for good service and a nice atmosphere, but for the price, I expected the food quality to match a bit more closely
2 of us had steak and, considering they’re the Outback “steakhouse”, disappointment would be an understatement. I didn’t hate the baby back ribs, but they could have been cooked better. Someone else had the chicken salad and enjoyed it, especially the home made dressing.
Our one complete success was my partner’s fettuccine Alfredo which was fabulous, and one of the better pasta dishes we’ve had in a long time.
Grateful for the endless supply of bread and soft drink refills, but although our waitress was lovely, we barely saw her so we could have had more.
They share a parking lot with at least 2 other businesses, including a hotel, so although the parking is free, it’s inconvenient to have to go to the hotel lobby to get your pass to get out of the lot, especially in a snow storm with an older party member who’s restricted by a walker.
If the experience was better, and closer to what we received years ago, we’d happily go back, but all things considered, and the fact that half of our party were Kiwi’s, there is no Australian Akure, or any other kind, so we’ll take a miss on here next time. Especially with the prices. I definitely expect more when I’m paying this kind of money.
I could add a late picture, but the best I could do would be the leather on the bottom of my shoe, but being as I assume it would taste better, it would be misrepresenting the food.
Oh, the host and hostess were lovely. Have to give the positives where I can.
I do want to mention that our server was very nice. She appeared to be the only one serving, yet she remained calm and friendly throughout. Unfortunately, while the service was good, the food quality was not.
Based on this visit, I wouldn’t return or recommend this location.
