This market recently changed hands. They fired all the long-time workers and replaced them with new, less than friendly employees (not all, but some). Their prices have skyrocketed and their focus is now on selling overprice beer and sandwiches that have not improved but now cost more than a decent sandwich should. Find an alternative.

This place makes some seriously good sandwiches. I particularly recommend the broccoli reuben but I’ve heard the normal reuben is great as well. The veggie burger, buffalo cauliflower sandwich, and breakfast bowl are excellent. Otto’s is likely losing out on tons of customers due to their Google listing as a market rather than a cafe or restaurant. I like the market side as well where they sell some nice local produce like Bread Alone – but it’s a mistake for this place to be hidden when someone searches for restaurants. This place is as much a cafe as anyplace nearby since they do “to stay” food with plenty of good seating.

Otto’s Market is a true gem in the heart of Germantown. With roots going back to 1927, it carries forward a beautiful tradition of community and quality. The produce is always fresh and abundant, showcasing the best of the Hudson Valley, and the variety of local products makes every visit special.
We had a wonderful experience here — from the delicious prepared foods and classic deli sandwiches to the fresh baked goods that are impossible to resist. The addition of the Touchy Coffee espresso program, along with craft beers and cider, makes it an easy place to relax, whether you’re stopping by for groceries or simply enjoying a meal.
What stands out most is the welcoming atmosphere. The indoor and outdoor seating makes it feel like more than a market — it’s a gathering space. Otto’s stays true to its mission of nourishing the community while supporting a just and sustainable future of food. Truly a place where you feel connected to both people and the land.
Highly recommended!

Love the broccoli reuben! However, months ago it was $11, then they took it off the menu (along with two other vegetarian sandwich options: the buffalo cauliflower and caprese) and only had one sad veggie burger option. Now they have brought back the broccoli reuben because so many people complained, BUT it’s $16.50?!?! bonkers.
We get it, you are catering to the city folk, but don’t forget your loyal locals who support you all year long! Also, I was very sad to hear they fired Patty, she is a gem in our community.

I waited until they opened so I could try it today. Fast service, great atmosphere to start the day. Germantown blend is tasty.

Food was very good. I gave 4 stars because the prices on their menu and blackboard aren’t accurate and I had to pay more than I was expecting

Love love love this place but don’t want to hear politics the entire time I’m there. It feels a bit unprofessional but I understand we are in a scary time. I go out to clear my mind not be reminded every second what I’m missing on the news.

Best egg sandwich (maybe ever!…and I’ve had a lot of egg sandwiches). Served on butter-toasted sourdough. My wife had the sesame bagel w/lox (bagel scooped-out then double toasted) and was great. Plenty of seating. Staff was so nice. They have a good selection of meats and vegetables and pantry items.

I didn’t know you could cock up a BLT! The place is utterly lacking in personality, staff could smile now and then. Worst I waited 20min for a mediocre at best sandwich.
