I have been looking for a deli that carries Thumanns cold cuts. I am 58 and this deli reminded me of when I was younger and where my mom and I would walk to to get cold cuts. Cold cuts are wrapped in the deli paper, potato salad was fantastic(just enough vinegar and not too oniony). You can tell back in the day this was the hottest place in town. He had a few items on the shelves, some cool pickles, pasta, and cookies. He had bottles of soda chilling in the refrigerator and a nice selection of chips. Had that nice “deli” smell (if you know…you know). Definitely will be back and hope its my new deli for years to come. Just make sure you have cash.

We love Otto’s! My Mom grew up right down the road and even though we live in Massachusetts now, it’s our fav and we’ve been eating the German potato salad for 50 plus years! This is our go-to deli for the BEST German potato salad on the East coast! We have driven 3 hours just to get it numerous times. My Mom said it’s been the same exact recipe for 75 plus years, our NJ family has been eating it for that long or longer. The prices are great and I also love that the inside looks the same as when I first remember going in around the age of 5 or 6. I Highly recommend this wonderful family owned and operated small business.

I grew up in the area and knew Otto when I was a child. I later knew his son Elmud. This is an old style deli where they used to slice cold cuts to order. Their Peppy Potatoe salad and coleslaw is the best on planet earth. There always used to be a big jar of jawbreakers and fireballs at the cash register. The smell of the pickle barrel and deli meats was classic and so good’

A walk into Otto’s is a walk back into the past when neighborhoods had small businesses and everyone knew one another. But one thing didn’t change. The high quality and authentic homemade German salads, delicious sandwiches, German specialties and frozen treats (for the Bogue Pond playground visitors) are tallied up the old fashioned way by Helmut, the owner, with a pencil on your bag. There’s even an old hand-cranked cash register to make your change. I’ve been a customer over 30 years, and highly recommend. We need more places like Otto’s Deli.

My parents started taking me there in 1976. When I got a bit older, I would drive my boat half a mile, jump a fence, and walk another half a mile to get my sandwich. Now I still go there regularly…I was there today. Same great family as 1976, the same quality, and the same level of old world kindness. If there were more places in the world like this, we would all be a little happier. Go get some German potato salad, a sandwich, and a giant garlic pickle. You will be happy too!

Love love love Ottos. I’ve been going there since I was a little kid! They have thee best German potato salad and so grateful the secret recipe got passed down to the next generation. Plan on going back there soon for 5-10 pounds of it! Yup..it’s THAT GOOD!

Great German Potato Salad not oily or too much onion. The Rice Pudding is great also, light and fluffy. The Owner and his wife are friendly. Just make sure you order in advance for a large amount . The only bad thing is “Cash Only”! I always have enough.
