Vermont originals, Otter East and the original Otter Creek Bakery are operated now by our flagship company Otter Creek Kitchens, based right here in Addison County, Vermont. Beyond food, we are faithful in our warm and welcoming atmosphere and are excited to encounter each new and returning customer. Our location at 51 Ossie Road in East Middlebury was the Down Home Deli market for twenty years prior to being Otter East. Our team is excited to revitalize the spirit of that local business and continue to serve our Vermont communities

While it would have been nice to have espresso and/or cappuccino…they only had drip coffee. On the other hand their food was delicious! Understand why the locals enjoy grabbing a bite at place!

Just went here for breakfast, and boy, was it delicious! I love that you can put a hash brown on your breakfast sandwich! I got mine on an English muffin, fabulous. We also split a cardamom danish which I definitely recommend!! The staff was super friendly, all around great experience 🙂

I stopped by this morning just to get some coffee and obtain a mug for my collection. The person behind the counter said the coffee was in the three or four “pump” dispensers… wow, just like 7-11! I expected a bit more from this place. Maybe not like Starbucks, but there are many real cafe’s around Middlebury that offer much more selection. Zero atmosphere; the counter person just stared at me, like maybe she was an AI-controlled automaton. There was no help. I’m a disabled individual, and could have had assistance getting my coffee, at least. I had high hopes, seeing the cute logos and Otter-branded tchotchkes on the Google Maps description. Serious upgrades needed! Edit: I visited again today and the food and attitude was much improved. They still need some work, like doors that close on springs. But the almond croissant was excellent. Great panini too. This place just needs love and attention.

Ordered sandwiches for takeout. Service is slow, 20 minutes to get four sandwiches. When I entered as the only customer, two workers went into the back room and left me waiting! The sandwiches were large and delicious.

Great selection of sandwiches and a very focused set of coffees. It is my understand that pastries are shipped over from the main bakery, Otter Creek Bakery Cafe in Middlebury because this location doesn’t have proper ovens, however you wouldn’t know that you taste them. The ones you get here are beautifully fresh and delicious.

Great food but the staff of 3 girls is not working I placed a order and wanted half sandwich turkey bacon lettuce got a whole sandwich not turkey very little bacon and a lot of lettuce Sandwich looks like it was thrown together in a hurry And I can tell that I was being talked about when I left there was somebody sitting at the counter kept looking out at my car probably will not go back to this establishment and will probably tell people to avoid it if you can’t get the food that you ordered
