Reviews
The shop is best described as somewhere a literal hole in the wall and a ghost kitchen. There is a small order desk with a couch and a couple of chairs so I suppose you could eat in. The decor is industrial cinder block with a touch of Continental Indian scattered about and the whole place looks a little worn but clean.
The menu has all your basic pizzas, burgers and poutines, and a good selection of Indian specialty pizzas and appetizers. We thought it best to lean into the Indian and ordered the Shahi Paneer Pizza and a couple of mango lassis. There was going to be a bit of a wait since the pizza guy was out doing a delivery, so they comped us a couple of Rabri Kulfi ice cream sticks which were tasty.
While we waited for our pizza, another couple came in who were going to the same concert, and had the same dinner problem. They ordered some samosas and told us later that they were excellent.
The lassis came out first and they were really good, very mango and creamy, not too sweet and they went down quickly. The pizza, what can I say that won’t sound like paid review? This isn’t I promise you! The pizza was superb, thin crispy crust lots of coriander, green pepper and paneer, covered but not drowned in cheese. The sauce was flavourful without being overpowering. I’m a white guy who can handle spice but the sauce was nicely balanced, just a little bite and a ton of flavour. Over all an unusual approach to pizza but perfect in execution. One of the best I have had in a very long time. We scarfed down quite a bit before the concert and took the rest home. I just had some for lunch, and it’s almost better reheated, almost.
Don’t be deceived by outward appearances, O’Town Pizza is a real gem in Ottawa. My only regret is they are a little too far away to order regularly.
Butter chicken pizza: perfect crust and balance of flavours, love the chili kick and that i can get even more next time
Chicken nachos: divine aroma, ingredients in layers, just like the girl loves
Meat lover’s: “really good pizza, cant find a flaw…” -girlfriend
All washed down with delicious mango nectar.
The wings come un-sauced, and the sauce came on side, but were crispy and normal sized wings. Personally, I prefer sauced wings but I just put them in a bowl and sauced them up myself at home.
The pizza was okay. Not my favourite in Ottawa, I personally felt like the crust was a little soft for my liking. It needed to be crispier, cooked longer, or something. It also seemed a little dense, if that makes sense. I was only about a five minute drive for the delivery, so that shouldn’t have resulted in a soft crust. However, the garlic sauce for dipping was amazing.
Also, this place got four stars from me just for the donuts. Definitely try the doughnuts. They are so delicious, they even had Maple Cream, which is maple icing on top with a cream centre, like another famous Canadian donut coffee place has taken off their menu. I will definitely be back, but for the donuts, probably not the pizza.
We were so surprised a pizza place was opening right next door to our place, and what a surprise it turned out to be!
Looking for a pizza that you can eat and NOT feel terrible after? Your searching ends here. No greasyness in the box, well cooked, amazing cool flavours like Butter chicken pizza (it’s actually good btw!) with beautiful, in house made, garlic sauce and pineapple curry sauce (I was skeptical about this one but it’s actually SO good!) And give the Shahi Paneer pizza a go, you also won’t be disappointed!
Lately we got for a Vegetarian pizza & ask to add protein ( in this photo, pepperoni, ham & Italian sausage).
Just tried the fried cauliflower for the first time tonight and even my kids love it (just don’t tell them what it is 😉 )
Very generous in terms of putting toppings on the pizza
Customer service is top notch!
Went there on a hot summer day and they gave me free kulfi ice cream
Kind people … wishing them all the success for the future and hope they open 10 more stores
The service was friendly and I received a discount for my first order that I wasn’t expecting. The Piazza itself was tasty and surprisingly light. Did not find it heavy at all and that certainly is not a bad thing. The garlic sauce is really outstanding and has a bit of bite to it.
This is definitely a repeat.
