The Other Trails in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, is a remarkable coffee shop that effortlessly blends exceptional quality with an inviting, thoughtfully curated atmosphere. Their coffee and tea offerings are superb; carefully crafted, rich in flavor, and clearly prepared with both skill and intention. The muffins deserve special mention: perfectly moist, balanced in sweetness, and unmistakably fresh, making them an ideal companion to any beverage.

Customer service is exemplary. Orders are handled with impressive efficiency, and the staff consistently displays genuine warmth, attentiveness, and hospitality. There is an ease to the experience; nothing feels rushed, yet everything flows smoothly.

The ambiance is where The Other Trails truly shines. The space is both aesthetically pleasing and deeply calming, designed to encourage lingering rather than hurried turnover. The attached used bookstore is an absolute treasure; well-stocked, thoughtfully organized, and brimming with character. It invites exploration, discovery, and the quiet joy of getting lost among well-loved pages.

Whether you’re meeting friends or family, reading a book, playing a board game, or simply seeking a serene environment for reflection and contemplation, The Other Trails provides the perfect setting. It is more than a coffee shop; it is a gathering place, a refuge, and a thoughtfully crafted experience that invites you to slow down and stay awhile.

What a great breakfast spot. Coffee was so delicious I had to come back twice in one day. Breakfast with a english muffin, egg frittata, and hot coffee…. lunch iced 100 miler, butter cake and pizza. So good with prices so reasonable.

Seriously a gem of a coffee shop here in Excelsior Springs. This place is beautiful inside and out, neatly tucked into a restored downtown. Please do yourself and your senses a favor and visit for a quick visit or good long conversation with a friend.

A must stop if you’re in Excelsior Springs. The owners/staff are extremely nice and take time to chat while getting your order ready.
There’s a goal board for running races, hikes, biking events. There’s also an accomplished board you get to sign once you accomplish the goal. Just a great local spot with tasty coffee and eats!

Wonderful service and staff. I can’t recommend the cold brew enough! My wife also shared a sip of her Ry refresher (inspired by a boutique across the street) that was delicious. I have been in several times and will continue to go back. It’s also wonderful how they support the community.

Went to the Rock Bottom room today after it recently opened. Perfectly creative way to use the space. Explore the used books while having a quiet place to sit and drink your coffee!

The barista was lovely and put up with the few questions I had. There is a wonderful little souvenir shop in the entrance with fun little knick knacks and lots of Magic the Gathering items. The basement has a load of books up for sell as well as some community tables to play some of the offered games at. There was a ton of options in both food and drink. My London Fog was definitely one of the most Superior brews I have found. It was like a warm honeied hug.

What more can be said about a small town coffee shop that everyone goes to and raves about? I have an office down the street and go here anywhere between once a week and once a day, sometimes just to put a stretch on my legs.

They take great pride in what they serve and how they serve it. The staff is always friendly and the owners are easy to talk to.

It isn’t uncommon when you walk through the door to hear your name (and order) called out, even when you’ve only been there a few times. If you enjoy trying new things each time you might hear your name and a suggestion called out.

I’ve not had anything here that isn’t good. Even the flavor combinations that I didn’t particularly like were well made and well balanced.

I take everyone I know here when they are in town. Coffee drinkers can find whatever flavor they are looking for (maybe even a couple secret drinks), non-coffee drinkers have teas, steamers (steamed milk and flavors), smoothies, and other options as well.

You can expect to spend $5-10 on a coffee and about the same on a breakfast or lunch item. The pizzas and calzones are yum! Panini are great as well! I can’t speak to the egg things, friends all say they would order them again and again. Cookies are well worth the $1.50 each (the Trifecta, if you like peanut and peanut butter stuff YUM!)

If you are getting a drink and a bite to eat expect it to be $15-20 and worth the price.

Downstairs you will find a game room where local teens and adults go to play things like Magic the Gathering, board games, and other card games. They have day’s and nights just for these, drop in games are also welcome. Loving having a local place for the kids to go, hang out, be safe, and have a good time without being judged.

The only knock on it is that it can get a little loud inside sometimes, could say that about anywhere.

Thanks to Jodey, Phil, and the entire staff!

Oh, and yes, I’ll take my large Mocha and the next surprise drink on the list…

Other Trails is so amazing. I’m a regular, and every time I’m in the shop I see the owners go out of their way to make customers feel welcomed and taken care of. They put so much heart into creating a warm, inviting space, and it really shows. The atmosphere is great and the coffee is amazing.

The coffee is amazing and the service of the staff members is amazing. There are other items you can buy. There is also a down stairs area, but I as was unable to see it. As my husband and I were primarily there for our bestfriends wedding. I promise it is worth trying and you won’t regret it. I had the Ozark Trail coffee option and it was soooo good. Please don’t miss out going here, especially, if you are a coffee lover.
