This place used to be our go-to date night, but has gone downhill. We came here and placed an order to-go. They told us it would be about 35 minutes for the order to be ready. After 30 minutes of waiting we checked in to see if it was almost done. They told us it would be another 15-20 minutes. After almost an hour of waiting they finally gave us a bag of food. When we checked the order we were missing the soup and salad and sauces and had to wait for them to get us the correct items. Very disappointing and long experience. Our to-go order took just as long as if we had eaten there! We’ll be trying one of the other hibachi restaurants next time.

Came for food but left after being seated. As soon as we walked in the place smelled strange, very strange and old. Once seated, we saw the grill was dirty with old bits of rice and oil from the day before. Not a clean restsurant.

We went to Otani Japanese Steakhouse for a birthday party, the chef was awesome and the show was fun as he involved the entire family. The standard volcano was turned into a Birthday candle and we all sang happy birthday. It was very entertaining. One of our party has shellfish allergies and the chef took extra care to keep everything well separated. Will definitely return.

Brought my girlfriend here for her birthday, and she explained how this was her favorite hibachi place! Well, it’s now mine as well!

This place used to be really good. Not so much anymore. Our chef barely said two words to us. Food pretty pricey and restaurant needs a deep cleaning and renovation. I really am not sure I want to

Every time we come to this fabulous restaurant, the food is excellent. The service is suberb. We took our friends who had never been there.

What and UNFORTUNATE experience this place was for Father’s Day. We arrived to celebrate Father’s Day with 6 people and as the experience is to watch the cook make the food. Well when we are told to be seated they wanted all of us the be in a straight line on the side of both cooks. I explained we enjoyed the cook and we would like to be seated as “normal” around one side to face the cook. Very rudely she said that all she got if we wanted to be seated. I said ok can I please have your name for my review and she said no. Grabbed another rude lady that wouldn’t give me a name and offered the same. She even said they asked the manager and that’s all that could be done. Manager comes out of the bathroom (wonder how they were consulting with her in the bathroom but oh well) I explained the situation and she said all you have to do is wait. I explained that I was told that was not an option. Either I took what I was offered (with a horrible attitude) or nothing. I said at this point I just want a name for my review and leave. She refused her name as well. She said the First Ladies name was Jennifer which it feels as she lied but they wasted enough of my time. We always go to this restaurant because the cooks are amazing and interact very nicely with my kid. The waiters are always different and they always have an attitude but today (on Father’s Day) they had the worst! So sad and upsetting.

The waiter very kid but, honestly, we will not return because the food is not as good as it seems, we did not like the teriyaki chicken and the show was very boring, they served us little rice, too expensive for the quality of the food… $200 in total for 4 adults and a kid who eats teriyaki chicken and doesn’t like it there, very strange.

Okay, was it world class? No, but after 100 Japanese Steak Houses, it has to be really good to be world class. Was it good, yep. Did I see some new tricks from the chef, you bet (kind of amazing to me, after so many). My only complaint was the Filet Mignon, which I always get and was only $3 more than the NY strip (usually a deal any trip of the train). As opposed to most Japanese Steak Houses, the fillet was not tender, but was good none-the-less…more like a good NY strip. Most fillets at Japanese steak houses are very tender (unlike steak house chains).

My husband and I love Otani! We are frequent customers who usually have no complaints about our experience here. However recently we have been disappointed. This rating and review is specific for take out orders. We have done carry out a few times from here (we actually did carry out last night) and we’re extremely disappointment. The veggies were hard and not cooked and bland (usually they are very tender and flavorful) the fried rice and meat was also extremely bland. It’s almost like they don’t prepare the take out orders the same way as the dine in food. None of the food had any of the sauces or seasoning on them that they usually have when it’s prepared in front of you. It’s extremely disappointing especially for the price. Although we love to dine in at otani we probably won’t order take out anymore.
