A total gem! Amazing Italian food with Pugliese specialty dishes. Cozy, warm decor with distinctive homage to the Puglia region. Friendly service. Reservations recommended on weekends, especially for groups greater than 4.

If you are looking for authentic Italian food, this is your place. This place reminds me of the rustic restaurants we visited in Italy. It doesn’t look as fancy as your typical Italian restaurant, but the food is so great. You must try many of their fresh dishes. However, the server was not too friendly at all. She is the same one who gave us a hard time for not making a reservation and gave serious side eyes, when 8 of us shared one bread basket and asked for one refill.

Amazing food, friendly service!
They don’t let you write a second review so I am adding to this one. We plan to dine here as a monthly event when we have an appointment in the neighborhood. It will not allow me to post mire photos but this time with a description of the delicious pasta dish we got again this time. It is called Bucatini Carbonara (Hollow thick spaghetti, crispy guanciale, peas, and a light cream sauce made with organic egg, pecorino romano, and black pepper). We had the Calamari Fritti as an appetizer and of course there was fresh bread – Italian Homemade Bread Filoni. We took a pizza to go bc they are known for their pizza. They will add any toppings you want. They menu only shows their specialty pizzas but we had them make ours with pepperoni and mushrooms. It looks and smells amazing.

This place is small And many even in the area don’t even know that it exists. However, give them a try.
The food seemed very authentic and made from scratch. The portions were generous and the food was very delicious. Service was great also and everyone there was welcoming. I would definitely go back. Bread does come for the table. Though I was surprised there was no small side salad with dinner.
Other than that, I highly recommend this place.

Osteria Trulli is an absolute gem! The cuisine is outstanding — every bite is a delight. The carpaccio was incredibly tender, and the Cavatelli Mari Monti was simply amazing, rich with flavor and perfectly cooked. The cozy, charming décor adds to the warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for a memorable dinner. Highly recommend!

Bolognes spaghetti was unbelievably under seasoned. I felt like I had Covid-19 while eating it. I in addition ordered a side of Italian sausage. It tasted old and like horse meat. Not as much of a big deal as the pasta. Noodles need to be salted before the sauce drops on them, come on..where is the owner? Even with the parm on the side, the entire dish was unbelievably under seasoned. Waste of food went into our dumpster.

We went there a few days ago and the reason I’m sharing this review is because I’m still getting reminded of how beautiful this place and the food was. Not just that, the people who served us were the kindest and most soft spoken people you could ever meet. I unfortunately forgot their names, it was a middle aged man and a lady.

Now coming to the food and dessert, we had pasta, calzone and a walnut based dessert (I truly forgot the names) it was just amazing, the consistency, spices etc were just perfect. The dessert was out of the world, give it a try and I’m sure you’ll thank me later. Overall 5/5 for food, service and atmosphere.

P.s – they serve good wine too

Don’t miss this place!! I can’t say enough about how good the food, service and atmosphere ALL are here. Regional Italian wines, exceptional food and the best staff we had in all of our visit to Chicago! Thanks to Laura and all the rest of the staff. Make sure you get a recommendation for wine from her and then sit back, enjoy and don’t skip dessert.

The atmosphere and food was very authentic and delicious! They understandably get busy on weekends and respectfully request limiting your meal to a very reasonable 90 minutes so plan accordingly. Hands down some of the best Italian outside of Italy!
