The food, service, and atmosphere were excellent! Our waitress Amelia and the host Jonathan made our experience very pleasant, they were very accommodating. The atmosphere was very cozy. We had a view to the open kitchen, which was so cool. This was the best Italian food I’ve ever had. I had the fettuccine alfredo with veggies and shrimp. My husband had the chicken Parmesan. We ended with the tiramisu. We will be back!

Every dish is thoughtfully made, so choosing really comes down to personal taste. We cleaned every plate. Well done.

Osteria Rago, a charming Italian restaurant located downtown in Bloomington, offers authentic Italian cuisine in a relaxed and comfortable setting. The food and service were both exceptional! We highly recommend Osteria Rago and eagerly anticipate our return.

Tucked-away gem with amazing food and a cozy vibe.
We had the carbonara, shrimp fettuccine, meatballs, and espresso drinks — everything was delicious and felt authentically Italian. The space is charming with live plants and warm colors. Service was great overall, though the hostess seemed a bit put off when we didn’t have a reservation (not a noted requirement on Google).
Still, we’d definitely return — just call ahead next time

Best Italian restaurant in Bloomington! We have eaten here many times and have NEVER been disappointed or had anything less than a perfect meal. Everything is excellent. Cacio e pepe, lasagna, chicken Parmesan, chopped salad, caprese salad, focaccia, cannoli. All of it. Amazing.
At this meal it was the seasonal risotto which was spicy shrimp. Wow, the layers of flavor went on and on with the perfect amount of heat, and perfectly cooked shrimp. Our server Lauren, who we have had before is always professional and very helpful.
The mint chocolate chip cannoli was light in the perfect shell.
We will always come back to Osteria Rago. If you’re looking for the quintessential college bar, try their sister restaurant next door at Nick’s for some Hoosier nostalgia.
This is an independent, uncompensated review.

We were a big group, but our server was attentive and excellent. I believe the young lady’s name is Grace. The eggplant and salmon dishes were delicious. So were the meatballs. We were disappointed with the three desserts we ordered (flavor and texture). We definitely will return but we’ll probably decline dessert.

My fiancé and I loved having Suzanne as our waitress! She was so welcoming, knew the menu, and encouraged every choice we made. We enjoyed the meatball appetizer, grilled chicken Alfredo, gnocchi, and finished off with the amazing tiramisu and cannolis! We made a reservation at 4:45 and were sat immediately. We will be back soon! ❤️

I wanted to love it, I really did. The food was ok. Definitely overpriced for what it was. Perhaps our waitress was having a bad night, but it was my mom’s birthday, and she acted so annoyed with us. My mom is probably the sweetest person ever and she even noticed, which sucked. I was being extra polite to try to turn it around, but she just wasn’t having it. I also felt like the aesthetic was pretty dungeon-ey feeling. Not the restaurant’s fault but parking is a pain.

I’ve had some of the best Italian food here! Love the atmosphere, service, and the menu! Only downside is that it gets booked up so fast (for a good reason), you have to reserve far in advance.

I’ve been here 5+ times and have loved it every time. Sandwiches for takeout or dining in. Marsala is great, pasta is fresh, appetizers are delicious! Just talked to Ava over the phone who was a pleasure to work with. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a “nicer” dinner in Bloomington.
