We absolutely love our visits to Osteria Alla Romana to see Chris and Isaiah! These two work hard to ensure the food is phenomenal and that from the time you walk through the door you’re treated like family. The ingredients are quality and the sauces are Chris’ own recipe which he also sells in store! We always like to stock up on Monti, the mushroom sauce, for home.

This is such a wonderful place to celebrate with family and friends, have a date night out, attend a live music night, and break bread. If you are looking for an authentic Italian meal definitely give The Osteria a shot!

We came here for my wife’s birthday and from the moment we walked in we were treated to top-tier service, conversation and most importantly food. The host, server, and chef were all Chris and it was like we were visiting him at his home dinner table. I don’t even have words to describe how great the food was. We had great conversation and left with full and happy bellies along with smiles on our faces. It’s so nice having a meal with REAL ingredients. Can’t wait to go again the next time we are in the area.

We have been wanting to try this restaurant for quite some time! It was FANTASTIC! We had bruschetta, ravioli special and spaghetti with shrimp. The chef/owner was INCREDIBLE. His food was outstanding! Can’t wait to try more! Highly recommend! Thank you Chef!

We walked into a hot restaurant with no air conditioning, which was fine at first. What came after was not.

What I assume was the owner came over & immediately started acting odd. He commented on my cleavage to my friend, said he’d cook our meal after finishing his cappuccino & asked if that was okay. We shrugged it off & said sure.

I ordered spaghetti & meatballs with meat sauce. Instead, the pasta came out as shells, though he had asked if that would be okay. The sauce was thin but at least coated the pasta. He only gave me one meatball, after asking if that was “enough.”

Throughout the meal, he kept popping his head beside mine from the booth behind me, completely invading my space. He sat with us the entire time, urging my friend to hurry up & finish her plate. He also launched into a long, bizarre story about himself that sounded fabricated: his age didn’t add up, he claimed his entire family had passed & he said he’d only dated one woman after his wife died. According to him, that relationship “couldn’t work” because she had previously been married to a “Black Puerto Rican.” He admitted this was racist but brushed it off by saying “all Italians are,” adding, “the only thing I like mixed is my cappuccino.”

I’m a white-passing mixed person with a Black mother & he clearly had no idea who he was talking to. He rambled about where he wanted to move next, ignoring us almost entirely. When my friend choked on her food, he didn’t pause, he just kept talking.

At the end, I ordered tiramisu. He asked if my friend liked chocolate & then brought her an unasked-for chocolate mousse along with my dessert, which we assumed was free. While we finished, he kept insulting the neighborhood, calling it full of “inbred white trash.”

I finally cut him off & said we had to go. The bill came to $102, for two dishes, two servings of bread & two small desserts. No cards accepted, of course. His ATM was empty, so we had to go to a gas station to pull out cash. By then, I felt faint from the heat.

The whole experience was uncomfortable, bizarre & way overpriced.

Located in Lancaster, this authentic Italian restaurant is a standout. Chris, the owner and head cook, possesses a deep passion for Italian cuisine, consistently delivering dishes that surpass expectations in terms of preparation, presentation, and flavor. I had the pleasure of a personalized kitchen tour, where Chris showcased the premium ingredients used in his cooking. His enthusiasm for Italian food is palpable. Additionally, Chris offers his homemade house sauce for purchase and maintains a commitment to using only the finest ingredients. The restaurant exudes a warm, cozy, and welcoming atmosphere, making it a true Italian gem in Lancaster. The service is attentive, helpful, and friendly. Although the prices may be slightly higher, the exceptional quality and experience make it well worth the investment.

I went to Osteria for a Valentines date night with my girlfriend.

The wait to be sat down was very short, and the service was pretty good, but it took some time before the food was brought out. They had a special that night which sounded promising. The salad and soup weren’t too bad, and the steak was great. The tiramisu cups were a little disappointing, but still tasted okay. The salad was a decent size but the rest of the portions were rather small.

The overall experience wasn’t too bad, until I received the receipt… $224 for two! Not only that, it was cash only and the only ATM available was out of order, so I had to drive up the road to a nearby gas station to withdraw the cash to pay for it.

In summary, come prepared cash only. The food is good, but don’t expect it to blow you out of the water. The food is the only real selling point.

Overall, I enjoyed everything about my experience at this restaurant, except for the price. To start, the owner and waiter were both exceptionally nice and welcoming. I enjoyed the laid-back, relaxed atmosphere. We got a salad, and our waiter forgot to bring us silverware. When he came back to our table and realized that he had forgotten to bring us our silverware, he apologized repeatedly and brought us some free bread that was very tasty. We did not ask for that, he just did that because he felt bad, and that was very nice of him. The bread was very good. Our food came out quickly, and it was very good. It definitely had an authentic Italian taste. We decided to get a tiramisu for dessert, and it was also very good. As I said in the beginning, everything about our experience here was great, and then I got the bill. The entrees were somewhat-reasonably priced at $30/meal, but the water alone cost $6.25, the small salad cost $17, and the small tiramisu was around $17, although I forget the exact price of it. Everything was very good, but, in my opinion, overpriced – especially the $17 small salad. Our total bill came out to $100.50, a very high price for just two people. Overall, I would only recommend going to this restaurant if you are willing to spend some extra money. The atmosphere is great, the service and hospitality are great, the food is great, the restaurant is very clean, everything is great, however, everything is also very expensive. Keep this in mind.

Owner is spectacular. He cooks, serves and cleans up. Best no f given personality. Good was great and the lemon truffle is to die for, best desert I have ever had. You can even bring your own alcohol.

Cash only. First timers tonight. You are greeted, seated, served & cooked for, by owner. Therefore, if you’re in a hurry or impatient this probably isn’t the place for you. If you’re used to 15 dollar dinners, this isn’t the place for you. If you want an authentic Italian meal, and don’t mind paying for that home made experience then try this place out. Food was outstanding. I can’t wait to go back & try the pizza & desserts.
