The Osteria al Doge is an absolute amazing Italian restaurant that offers guests highly delicious Italian style dishes and great customer service.

Nestled in the heart of New York’s Times Square, specifically the theatre district, Osteria al Doge has become renowned for offering exquisite Venetian style cuisine and exceptional Italian classics ranging from lasagna, vongole spaghetti, grilled octopus, marinated grilled chicken breast, grilled flat iron steak and many other wonderful dishes.

In September of 2025, I had the distinct pleasure of dining at Osteria al Doge when treating my wife and myself for dinner to celebrate her “Happy Birthday”!!! Both my wife and I enjoyed every moment of our dining experience!!!

The restaurant’s staff were very kind and welcoming and quickly provided us with our favorite table in the house. We were seated at a very nice and comfortable table, in an intimate and secluded location, positioned near the window which gave us a great views of the outdoors of New York City.

Our server, Regino Rex was incredibly friendly, engaging, endearing, and impeccably professional. He did a great job on providing a concise description of the meal specials that were offered for the day, adeptly addressed all of our menu inquiries, offered solid tips and suggestions, and perfectly noted our orders. Mr. Rex routinely checked in on us to make sure that we were enjoying our meals, made himself available to address any of our requests, and always made sure we were having a great time.

In addition, he graciously acknowledged my wife’s birthday event and even sang “Happy Birthday” to her when bringing out our delicious candlit dessert. We thank Mr. Rex for his superb service and wonderful hospitality!!!

My wife and I were also impressed with the restaurant’s interior settings. We found the flowers, colorful Italian ceramics and the round wagon wheel lit chandelier to be very beautiful. They certainly helped produced a captivating atmosphere, and enhanced our romantic experience.

Last but certainly not least, both my wife and I found our meal to be spectacularly delicious!!! My wife ordered and enjoyed her “taglioni vendure” entree while I ordered and loved my lasagna entree!!! We found our meal to be well cooked, perfectly marinated with mouth watering pasta and cheese, and delightfully scrumptious!!!

We’d like to thank Osteria al Doge for celebrating my wife’s birthday and for providing us with an outstanding dining experience that we’ll cherish forever!!!

• Review Osteria al Dodge Restaurant –
Your Pre-Theater Ticket to Venice
(No Passport Required)

If you’re headed to the theater and want your taste buds to have their own show first, Osteria al Dodge is the place to go. It’s fresh, authentic Venetian Italian—so authentic you’ll start looking around for gondolas and debating whether you should’ve worn a feathered carnival mask.

The homemade pasta? Second to none. Truly—if there was an award for “Pasta Most Likely to Make You Tear Up From Happiness,” this would win. The fried zucchini flowers were some of the best I’ve ever tasted—light, crispy, and now renting space in permanent memory. Service was exceptional—friendly, fast, and made us feel like VIPs… or at least well-fed nobles from Venice. I highly recommend

Service was great. Food was great. Beautiful little place right in the Times Square area. We went on Thanksgiving day so we had the special but it was great and a lot of food. They didn’t skimp!!! Definitely a place to go try out.

Like many others, we came here before a show. We came with a group of 7. Had reservations. Everything was ready for us when we arrived. We were in early at 4:30p so it was still very empty. By 6:00p they had a line out the door.

We really enjoyed ourselves here. The service was wonderful. The atmosphere was very nice as well. The food was good. Like others, I think I expected a bit more out of the location and price. I had the veal scallopine and it was pretty bland. Needed to add salt and pepper and not just a little. The pasta dishes were nice. Everything was really fresh and well presented. The waiter made a great wine suggestion.

Overall we enjoyed it a lot.

We have been enjoying Osteria Al Doge for over 20 years. From the moment you walk in you are greeted and treated like family. We had the pleasure of being taken care of by Chris today. The place is spotless clean and the finest ingredients are used to prepare the food. The libations were expertly crafted. Are appetizers and entrées came out hot and delicious. I cannot stroll enough, recommend visiting here. They can easily accommodate groups of all sizes. They also understand Timing limitations when you need to get to a show. We have never been disappointed here. I promise you will enjoy the food just as much as we do. The atmosphere adds to the experience. Can’t wait to come back. God Bless Blue & Gold! God Bless America! Remember Everyone Deployed Everyday!

This is a nice looking, two level restaurant (see my photos). My waiter was going through the motions of being a waiter without the needed attention and appearance of contentment. For my main course I ordered the grilled mixed fish that did not come close to my expectations. I thought that it was to be fish on one plate and a salad on another plate. Instead, it was a small portion of a variety of cooked fish and shell fish served with mostly small uncooked tomatoes on the same plate. The flavor of most of the close to room temperature fish and shell fish was gone. The mens room is rather unusual, maybe it’s Italian style. Their lamb shank, which I had on a different day, was served hot but did not have the strong flavor that lamb shanks have had in the past elsewhere.

The food was absolutely outstanding! There is something about true, authentic Italian food that is second-to-none. However, the service and atmosphere left much to be desired. This is a 2-level restaurant, having been seated in the upper level overlooking the entire restaurant. The view was great but the issue was an air conditioning unit directly above my head blowing cold air continuously throughout dinner. And this was October, where the temps were already in the 50s, although I do understand that it gets warm in a restaurant. I asked to have this turned off, but that wasn’t an option. I also asked to move, but that wasn’t an option either. By the end of the evening, my ears, nose, and hands were literally numb. The service was also a bit of an issue. I ordered a regular Pepsi, and got a diet Pepsi. I asked to have it replaced, only to get another diet Pepsi. Certainly not a deal breaker, but I expected a bit more from such a nice restaurant. May try again next time I am back in NYC, given how good the food was.

The service here is top notch I mean what do you expect being in the Broadway area to be Frank for what I paid I expected a little
More.. specially $25 for calamari but that’s my opinion. Branzino could’ve been a little bit more flavorful but once again my opinion. Overall decent meal if you are in the area. Would I come back here again nope, I have had better tastier Italian dishes in New Jersey and other areas of New York but the service here is top notch.
