This was our second visit to this place. The first time was already disappointing: we were a group of five (four adults and one child), and an extra service charge was added for the group without any prior notice. It was not mentioned in the menu and no one informed us in advance, which was very upsetting.
The atmosphere feels quite outdated. You can tell the restaurant has been operating for a long time — the interior looks worn and not very cozy.
The ordering process is strange and old-fashioned. You have to mark your order on a paper sheet using a pencil with a plastic fork attached, and then the waiter comes and asks you to repeat the exact same order, as if they couldn’t write it down themselves. It would be much better to switch to a more modern system, like tablets on the tables.
We only received water after we asked for it again, and that was after the food had already arrived, even though we ordered it as soon as we sat down.
The food is prepared quickly. The rolls are a decent size for the price, with plenty of fish and not too much rice. The presentation is interesting. The bill came to about $50 per adult including a child, which is average for similar places in this area.

Me and my boyfriend have been looking for a good Japanese take out spot for literally 6 YEARS and we finally finally found the spot. The best noodles i have ever had, they’re so perfectly saucey, just the right serving size. The chicken is so tender and flavorful, i’ve found a lot of places we go to all kind of have the same kind of flavor. But this is just different you can tell they cook with LOVE.

By far one of my favorite spots here in Washington. I’ve never been to any other restaurant that compares to this one everything on the menu is amazing and the inside is beautiful and peaceful. Definitely recommend if you’re craving some japanese food. 10/10

Me and my Fiancé absolute love Oshima and have been coming here regularly for over 3 years. They usually offer fantastic service and quality food. Tonight offered an interesting experience that left a lot to be desired. Upon stopping in around 7pm on a Friday, we waited around 10 minutes for a table for 2 to be cleaned (there were tables available with no one else currently waiting). Upon being seated it was around another 10-15 minutes before our order was taken, upon our order being taken our waiter didn’t ask about drinks… after about 15 minutes our server informed us she lost our slip, we filled another slip out and asked if she could please bring our drinks. (You shouldn’t have to ask where a bottled drink is 15 minutes after ordering it). Another group of two ordered well after us and got the first portion of their meal about 5 minutes before I pulled our server aside and asked when our food would be ready. Upon pointing out that guests that were seated after us got their food before us, I was told “the kitchen is faster than the sushi chef”. We were then brought a single item from our order, at the same time the table that was sat after us received a similar item. Upon finishing our single item out of seven items, and waiting for another 5 or so minutes we made our way up front to cancel our other items and pay for our two drinks and single food item after being at a table for over 45 minutes… Our server was apologetic, but offered zero discount for the poor service. We spent $20 for an hour of our evening with poor service, though as always the item we did receive was fantastic. It will likely be a while before we order from them again.
I understand that not every experience can be perfect, but this was lackluster and frustrating at best. I hope that our next experience is much better and we can update our review to reflect it!

Their food is always fantastic but the service has been on a steady decline since their college-aged server moved on a few years ago. After a rather disappointing experience attempting to dine in last night (and over an hour of attempting to have grace) my fiance and I finally had to leave our table if we wanted to eat anything before every other restaurant in the area closed for the night. The owner has asked us to “please understand” that they were busy last night but what they need to understand is that waiting over an hour and getting 1 piece of food is not okay. Not to mention the fact that the server not only lost our slip, but we overheard that she lost another table’s slip too. We weren’t the only table that walked out last night and you know that that’s not a coincidence. My fiance hopes to order again in the future, I hope he forgets he even likes sushi.

Haven’t been in here for a while since we moved out of town but came back and really enjoyed that I could go out for some Japanese food. This is really spectacular
Service was absolutely stellar. I had lots and lots of questions and I think all of the weight staff stopped by to answer my questions for me and I ended up getting the pokeball and I am really delighted with it. They explained to me they’ve got several different kind of sesame bowls and I like the pokey bowl. It has a really nice sauce to it and there were just tons of food in here just and very delightfully presented. I did ask for the lettuce instead of rice and they said it would be an upcharge of $2 which I didn’t want to go for. But that would have been a nice addition if they would have been that the atmosphere was a lively there all lots of tables were full. There’s a sports bar football game on right now. Music playing in the background. The chefs are busy at the sushi bar. The tea is really great. I definitely know this is one of the places I like to go to. So sorry my husband doesn’t want to eat Japanese anymore. This is a real treat
We live up in Mount Baker now and it’s 100 mi trip to get down to Everett but I was down here today and thankful to come out of my way a little bit to be able to eat here.

Long-time customer of about 10 years here. I stopped by today for some Crazy Cali rolls (still the best sushi I’ve ever had), and since it was my birthday, I tried to order some sake. My ID had expired that same day, so I totally understand why they couldn’t serve me. The timing just happened to be unlucky.
I appreciate the owner’s respectful response and the way they handled the situation. I’ve always enjoyed coming here, and the Crazy Cali rolls keep me coming back. Looking forward to many more visits.

Absolutely delicious, fresh and well made! So tasty and full of flavor! One of the best sushi I’ve ever had! The staff is amazing, kind and very friendly! The restaurant itself is very clean and spacious! Wasn’t packed at all, but I have seen it get a little crowded in the past, but that’s because it’s so good and definitely worth it!!! We got 12 sushi rolls and a large sake, it came out to around $130, which I thinks is a very decent price! Will be back!
