This place is a “do again”. Glad we tried it.
This is a very good meat and 3. Also has a vegetable plate option. He is proud of his cornbread. It sermed to me to beIt a fluffy take on a “cornbread cake”. Interesting and a little different, in a good way. My 80 year old mother was happy with the quality of her meal.

This time last year, I was so excited to get my hands on the food and Sunday I was disappointed, 3/9/25
So here we are again eating here after church, haven’t had it in a while
I ended up going in and we were acknowledged, of course, but when it came to eating the food, our portions were cut in half and I was still hungry after I bought the food. $13 plate
The smothered rotisserie chicken or baked chicken, usually they have bigger selections than the little pieces we got. I’m almost 30 years old and got a kids plate.
I see they’ve made enough but we’re not training them well enough to ask the customers what they prefer.
The food didn’t taste the same from what I remember.
My advice is to not little scoop the early crowd, feed everybody and if you run out of food, then that just goes to show you’re good at what you’re doing.
I hope they aren’t losing their spark.
The owners who I believe were the employees that were working at the time are very sweet. I just wanted to give the mama a hug bc she was sweet but she was working hard so I didn’t want to disrupt that.
the food is home cooked . I got a rotisserie dinner and double Mac
Upon asking about the chicken I asked if beans and rice were considered a side or does it come with it I’m guessing the wife didn’t hear me (I am soft spoken so it happens)
To my surprise after being told yes I got rice and gravy but here the meal was in fact a home cooked
2 plates for under $30
We didn’t get drinks bc we had some at home but I believe it’ll still be around the same price
Your drink is extra though
Also remember they are new on the block and have plenty room for improvement
Welcome them to the community yall

So unfortunately I had to work on Sunday but my mom made sure she stopped by after church and I was greeted with yet another good plate but this time she went all out
Yall know I love Mac and cheez so it was there

I didn’t taste the cornbread yet as my face is currently in this plate
That chicken bird was good too
Yall they’re the reason I like home cooking now….dont hesitate
Grew up on soul food and that was considered home cooking for me but this gives a new meaning as far as country home cooking
Definitely earned a regular ✨

YALLLLL!!! since my original review they were good but it was up and coming when I say they made the right choice by Having Glenda & Tim (BBQ-in with my honey ) in the kitchen….. gone stop by and grab you a plate like this
Ya granny made this one & it tastes like soul food now
Rotisserie chicken, red beans and rice, black eyed peas and Mac and cheez & corn bread
Hands down 3rd time was the charm!!
Now let me get off and feed my face

Lawd every bite didn’t disappoint and I’m so excited for that! The owner I didn’t get his name but you know him if you see him, gave me some cake and I must tell yall it was the most moist and fresh ingredient cake I done ever had. And yes it’s a family recipe I tased every strawberry from the cake to the icing. If I haven’t convinced you yet I’m just gonna believe you don’t have good taste buds.
Thank yall so much for the great service and amazing food. Yall better not go no where for a long time
PS my mama said yall better stop sleeping on this cornbread. She said she’ll break her diet for that there

I needed to get something for lunch and decided to try Oschcola’s Home Cooking. This place has been on my radar for a few weeks. I’d passed it a few times while driving on Airport Boulevard.
I was working from home so I went there on my lunch break. When I walked inside I saw a few patrons sitting at tables. There was a a buffet style counter set up with the work staff behind it. Each of them greeted me as I walked toward the counter. I was asked what I wanted and I said thought instantly about the fried chicken I saw. I ordered that and the meal comes with three sides and cornbread as well. I chose mac and cheese, black eyed peas, and mash potatoes and gravy. The server rung me up and I took my plate to go.
I can’t remember the first thing I tasted when I got home. I believe it was the mac and cheese. It doesn’t really matter. The sides were really good. Mac and cheese is usually my favorite side but I thoroughly enjoyed the black eyed peas. Don’t get me wrong the mac and cheese was excellent but the peas were superb. The mash potatoes were creamy and the gravy was savory. The cornbread was the type that had the pieces of corn in it. I liked it.
Now the main course was of course the chicken. It really looked and tasted like authentic homemade fried chicken. I loved the seasoning on the chicken. It was some of the best chicken I’ve had in a while. I definitely want to come back.

Tucked in a shopping center lies the up and coming jewel of the South. I travel all over Alabama, I know Home Cooking, Country Cooking and Soul Food. This is just what you’re looking for. It ain’t Cracker Barrel, this has Flavor! Fried chicken or pork chops, red beans and rice, cooked right in front of you if you’re early. The sides, child please! You can’t go wrong. Passing by, I assumed it was a hispanic type of restaurant going off of the name alone. To my surprise it was a cozy cafetera style eatery. I missed out on the fried chicken the first day and went back the following. My past two visits have been enjoyable. The food was delicious and the owners are super friendly. The mom and pop feel of the restaurant brought took me back to simpler times. If your lookong for a warm, welcoming lunch spot definitely stop by and check this place out.

Staff was nice and restaurant was cleaning. My only issue was the food. My baked chicken was half cooked, mashed potatoes box, and cornbread had white ( unknown) item and corn. I was never informed corn bread was not plain. Food had entirely too much pepper on it.

This place has home cooking down to a science. The food is delicious , not as good as my mom but kinda close. The service is friendly and helpful, they take the time to explained everything. The location is pretty easy to get to which is a plus at that location. I will definitely go there again as well as recommend it to family and friends.
