20-year-old Oscar Romano was a veterinary student in El Salvador when civil unrest prompted his journey to the United States. Oscar quickly landed a stint washing dishes at Piccolissimo in Fort Lee. In two short years, he climbed to executive chef. “In the 1980s, all the chefs were from Italy – pasta chefs and butchers. I was happy to work with them and lucky to learn from them,” Oscar shares. In 2013, Oscar made the leap and bought Milano’s restaurant. He turned this locale into a New York Times reviewed culinary experience. Oscar has perfected his culinary craft by mastering combinations of authentic Italian flavors. The less subtle flavors that make the difference are a dash of dedication and a touch of the true American dream.

Well visiting New Jersey last week a friend said he would like to take me to dinner at Oscars I had never heard of oscars as I live in Florida now but originally from that area period when we pulled up it look familiar but then we went inside to the back room and I asked what the name of this restaurant used to be and they told me, Milano’s, I said to myself oh my God 26 years ago and 10 months I had my son’s christening right there at this table and now my son is turning 26 tomorrow and moving away to San Francisco the next day it was a very emotional dinner but it was lovely and the food was delicious it brought back some wonderful memories as I used to die in there often and just so weird that Matthews christening was held there and it makes you realize that life goes by like a flash first he was 2 months old and now he’s 26!

Italian restaurant located in a strip mall in Blauvelt. Went there for HVRW and had a pleasant experience. Nice ambience and friendly staff. Had the Grilled Octopus which was perfect and Homemade Pappardelle with Lobster and Mixed Seafood which was delicious. Was caught by surprise by the price of wine per glass but definitely worth a visit again.

I do not know how to rate them yet. I will return several times before I make a solid review. Our waiter was off my scale. Welcoming and attentive and kind. It was our anniversary so I spent 2 days looking as to where we should go. The maestro some plates were great, but others my wife had a hard time to swallow. Mozzarella coroza did not go well. Reason is the flour was overpowered and raw. Yet we had so many great dishes which is my I am torn. Such great food in some places but beefsteak inch cut is no good. Oscar I love as well as my wife your staff and you as well, but brother once a month make your staff make your dinner. I don’t want to lose you in the area because I think your great but maybe lax. And I don’t think you deserve that but you need to fasten up
That’s my honest review. Lovely place and staff, but be known to be the great man you are. Wine prices are crazy btw. A glass each price of a bottle. I am so glad we had 1 glass each at that price. Wine was a celebratory thing. Seems we shouldn’t leave the home with familia which is not how I was raised.

It was a pleasure to work with Oscar to plan a Rehearsal Dinner for my son and new daughter in law! Communication was excellent as we got the menu and headcount together. The party itself was wonderful! The staff was attentive to all of our guests, and the food was absolutely amazing! Everyone was raving about how good everything was. Thank you to our lead waiter Daniel, who made sure that all went smoothly, and a BIG thank you to Oscar, whose food, staff and restaurant gave us a party to remember.

Great menu and friendly personal service.
Oscar has established a fine restaurant where he can show off his culinary skills. We had the Paparadelle with mushrooms in Truffle Oil and the Salmon in an orange sauce with cranberries. Both were excellent. The service is friendly and personable and Oscar will often come out and chat with the patrons.

Very attentive staff, lovely menu, food is okay. I had a pesto dish with super spicy shrimp that was inedible. They redid the shrimp but it was a very weak pesto sauce. The wait staff was terrific and it almost felt like they were friendsl Nice selection of desserts. Good value.

The homemade pappardelle with mixed mushrooms and garlic oil sauce was a standout pasta dish at Oscar’s. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and the mushrooms added a delicious earthy flavor. 100% recommend, everything was beyond delightful! Will be back for more!
