I’ve been to many Japanese restaurants, so I have a good sense of what authentic and well-prepared Japanese food should taste like. Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was disappointing.
We ordered the chicken teriyaki, pork katsu, and the mermaid roll. The chicken teriyaki was very dry and lacked the juicy, flavorful quality you would normally expect. The pork katsu was also not well prepared—the breading kept falling off with each bite, which made it messy and less enjoyable. The mermaid roll did not taste fresh, and the overall quality of the sushi was underwhelming.
The service did not help improve the experience. Our server was not welcoming, did not smile, and gave the impression that he did not really want to serve us. Hospitality is a big part of dining, and unfortunately, we did not feel it here.
I truly hope the restaurant improves both their food quality and customer service, as Fargo could really use a great Japanese dining spot.

My Son and I really enjoyed our time here. The staff was friendly, the food was AMAZING, and everyone was so approachable and pleasant. I strongly recommend this restaurant for your next celebration or just a wonderful experience for a first-timer!

On a slow night we were treated to Chef Mono. He entertained us, and the food was delicious. From the soup and salad to the main course of fried rice, vegetables, and noodles, and filet Mignon and chicken, everything was spot on. We also enjoyed the Kirin and Sapporo, will come again!

Osaka has outstanding kani salad and is all around quite affordable for the quality. The food is the best part which is of course why we continue to come back.
The service is the worst part. The servers (even at the sushi bar) is lacking. The servers aren’t happy to see you. Remember the teacher on Ferris Buehler?? Buehler? Buehler? Anyone? That’s what the servers are like. Little to no understanding of kids and what they might need. Just needs much improvement. I’m thinking this is probably why they started implementing an 18% required gratuity. You have no choice. If you eat there – you’re paying 18%. I usually do minimum of 20% but if they have to take it without asking and the service is meh then I’ll leave it at that.
I don’t have much experience dining at the hibachi grill so I can’t speak to that. I’m thinking they reserve the good servers with personality for that section. (Makes sense from a business standpoint)
Atmosphere is ok. The photo opp is fun and the fish tank is always a hit with the kids — I feel like they’re trying to improve over the years, then they continue to use these crap old plastic Pizza Hut style water glasses. It’s like they’re trying to be fancy and then half ass it.
Overall, the food is good but service isn’t. Enjoy your sushi. I love the kani salad and yum yum roll.

Went in for dinner with a couple friends on a Friday night and overall it was a pretty good experience. The place has a calm vibe, nothing too fancy but clean and comfortable. I ordered the salmon roll and a bowl of ramen. The ramen broth had nice flavor, maybe a little salty for me but still enjoyable. Sushi looked fresh and tasted the same, which I appreciate.

Some coworkers and I went here a while back to celebrate some of their birthdays, and it was Such a treat! We opted for the live hibachi grill experience, and the hibachi chef was a TON of fun, highly entertaining, and had us laughing heartily all throughout the experience!!! Plus, he made the three whose birthdays were being celebrated feel special and like the stars of the show! Awesome, fun, and very memorable experience! (*Plus, he was a handsome fella, too, to boot! Hehe.)

I frequent Osaka Sushi & Hibachi whenever I’m in the FM area, and it never disappoints. The service is consistently excellent, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. The hibachi chefs put on a fantastic show every time and genuinely know how to make the experience fun. On top of that, the sushi is outstanding — the salmon sa sa has quickly become my new go-to favorite. Highly recommend!

Hibachi is always a fun experience and the food is very tasty. The chiefs always add their own little spins to each dinner but yes some are better then others and you are stuck to the luck of the draw on which one you get. There is a regular restaurant as well where you didn’t have to have the food cooked infront of you. It’s quieter and easier to talk but obviously less fun. Been going here for years and has always been good. Good portion sizes and everything is delicious.

Usually go there for the hibachi where do you put on the show and cook it in front of you and it is so much fun and a fantastic show and a guaranteed good time with fantastic food. This time just went for the sushi and calamari salad and hot soup. It’s exceeded my expectations as usual

Whether you dine on the hibachi side or regular seating, the food is phenomenal. The cooks who do hibachi are absolutely fabulous. The daiquiris are tasty and not too strong. The sushi and the miso soup are some of the best in town. The presentation of the food is awesome, everything looks so cool! Not a bad item on the menu. Definitely would recommend.
