Food was pretty good, and the prices were reasonable for what you get. Overall, we had a nice experience and would definitely visit again.

Had a good time Friday night with some friends. The food was pretty good, had a burrito bowl and it was good. It’s a cozy little place and the service was good, staff were friendly.

My husband were touring Charles Town and stopped for a relaxed but fairly quick lunch. We both had the Taco fish bowl. Service was fast and good. Our meal was nicely presented, the portions were very generous, pricing was low to moderate and the food was delicious. Would we dine here again? Absolutely!

I am from the West Coast, so the Mexican food is way different especially compared to size and flavor. This place is pretty good but they are pricey and their burritos are tiny. If you’re trying to watch your calories this is the place for you to go to if you don’t wanna be fool and still hungry. This is most definitely the place for you. it’s just really overpriced for the size that you get and you get no sides.

Atmosphere- 4 stars- love this location. Right on the main street in the little town of Charles Town WV (named after George Washington’s brother) located in the beautiful brick Washington Charles Hall building. This building is beautiful- looks like an old Colonial Statehouse. The restaurant has an opened/shared space with a cute little market called Bushel and a Peck. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Very clean dining area.

Service- 3 stars- counter service however they do bring the food to your table. Food came out fairly fast.

Food- 4 stars- I got the Chicken Quesadilla and we also got the Chicken Street Tacos. Both were made with fresh ingredients and chicken was cooked perfectly. Would highly recommend stopping here on your next visit to historic Charles Town West Virginia!!

Ortegas’s Taco Shop is a popular spot in Charlestown. The food is great, the street tacos are reasonably priced, but that’s about it.

The classic tacos are overpriced based on the fact they charge $1 extra for Carne Asada versus the $0.25 cents for the carne asada street taco despite the fact you get the same amount of meat in each. Me and my friends got tacos, both classic and street, and I realized that one classic taco was smaller than the other and it happened to be the one I paid extra for. When I asked the manager of that specific shift about it, she was quite dismissive and argumentative, claiming that there were “the same size” when they weren’t and her responses gave the impression that she thought I was trying to complain about nothing. All I wanted to know was if I was blessed with a large Muchaca or if there was a mistake and my carne asada should have been larger. I walked away from the interaction quite disenchanted with the establishment as I have always been a fan of Ortegas and have taken my friends there often.

I have never had an issue before today, but this issue showed me that, at least this once, customer service is only good if I don’t raise concerns. I hope, if I ever come back, that this turns out to be a one-off event. I understand not all managers are the same.

The food is really good, but if one is not getting a street taco, it can be a little pricey. I would say, not worth it, especially from this experience.

The tortillas for the classic taco are advertised as 6″ (vs the 4″ street taco) but the same manager I spoke to said “all our tortillas are the same size”, (that being 4″) which *really* makes the Classic Taco’s not worth it, and not as advertised.

This restaurant is an affront to Mexican food and culture. “Queso” is nacho cheese. They were out of street tacos so i settled for the saddest “classic” tacos I’ve ever seen. Chicken had no flavor, and the “carne asada” tasted like microwaved halal beef. The shredded pork was alright, but i have made better at home from the Aldi carnitas package. I am the least Mexican person ever, and I have made more authentic Mexican food than this regularly at home. Service was fast, and the environment was enjoyable enough. I beg you to put any ounce of effort into your meats, the literal heart of your tacos.
