I walked by Orion daily on my visit to Wimbledon and made a reservation my last night. This place is the best place to eat in all of Wimbledon. How they don’t have a line out the door is beyond me. I was greeted quickly and I asked if I could sit at the bar instead of a table. I know I am American. The entire team was honestly so attentive, gave me suggestions and all were spot on with everything they recommended. I started with the Tuna Tartare and switched the prawn cracker to a rice chip (shellfish allergy), then got the Dad’s Bread, Sea Bass Crudo and finished off with the Lamb that was just added to the menu. From start to finish everything was perfect. Chef also brought a side of the signature potatoes which were amazing. Unlike most restaurants it was spacious, had a great bar area, the staff spotted every need you may have. I look forward to enjoying another meal or two on my next trip.

Outstanding Sunday lunch and first visit to Orion! Very impressive. The beef roast was SUPERB, delightful wine menu and the baked cheesecake was wonderful. Beautiful restaurant, loved the decor and yet somehow such a relaxed friendly atmosphere. Thomas, our waiter was charming and attentive, the host very professional and even met Alex manning the desert trolley.

We live locally and attended with our young baby, so very welcoming. The team were also accommodating when we needed to move the booking as our baby wasn’t well.

This is just the kind of place Wimbledon so desperately needs and will be a local institution before long.

See you again soon 🙂 x

We were very pleased to eat at this restaurant. The atmosphere was wonderful and we found the food impeccably prepared. The skill of the chef built confidence that we were getting great flavours in each dish that arrive at our table. We enjoyed our gastronomic adventure visiting Orion. This is the place to stop and enjoy yourselves for an afternoon or evening. We would have tried vegetarian options but there were very limited.

We made a booking via the restaurant’s website to celebrate a birthday. As part of the booking process, we were asked to upload a photo so the team could greet the birthday guest personally. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen — the lady who welcomed us had no idea whose birthday it was, which was disappointing.

We were shown to our table by our waiter, who was professional and courteous, though rather serious and without a smile. Alex, the owner and chef, later came over to say hello, as did Domenico, the restaurant manager — both were charming and welcoming.

To drink, I ordered a bottle of Lanson champagne. To start, we shared the lobster and prawn toast, which unfortunately had an overwhelming flavour of oil. The pig cheek was fine and enjoyable, though it came with gravy and no spoon was provided, so I had to request one.

For mains, the cod fillet lacked any real depth of flavour, while the Dover sole was on the dry side. On the positive side, the butter potatoes were excellent, but the mixed greens were bitter and overly coated in butter.

Desserts were a highlight: the passion fruit parfait was delicious, as was the rhubarb. The restaurant kindly provided the desserts and a “Happy Birthday” chocolate free of charge, which was a thoughtful and appreciated gesture.

Domenico returned to our table to check on the meal, and we shared our feedback openly. The restaurant itself is quite small, and the table next to us felt uncomfortably close.

In summary, this is a new restaurant with clear potential to become somewhere one could visit regularly — but the standards need to be raised, and quickly. Prices are in line with West End restaurants, but the food does not yet justify them.

That said, we will return to give it another chance.

For a relatively new restaurant Orion is getting everything right. Great food, great cocktails, great service and great atmosphere. Food highlights were the cheesy doughnuts, tuna tartare, steak tartare, oysters (obviously), beautifully cooked fish, and the desserts Twix and passion fruit thing.

The bloody good Mary and clarified pina colada were awesome.

The team were informative and attentive

We had a very enjoyable evening at Orion. The setting was relaxing, the service was faultless, and the food was truly fantastic. The skate wing special was absolutely delicious, as were the apple oysters and scallops. Make sure to save room for dessert – they are excellent! We also loved the cocktails, especially the pisco sour and the brown butter espresso martini. Huge thanks to Alex and the team; I’ll definitely be returning soon.

What a lovely dining experience, all the staff I had contact with were charming. I had bar snacks Then I must say the 2023 Domaine Des As, La Lyonne white wine is super good value and the best wine I have tasted for years. Of note we had prawn toast, cod wrapped in cabbage, a sirloin with new potatoes with house chocolate mousse, salt and olive oil. I’ve been spoilt!

Loved the old Lighthouse , thought Alex Webb’ new opening was worth a visit , and was not disappointed
Met warmly by house staff, early dinner . Selected Lobster toast which is unique, great sensations and rich flavour. A simple rose’ of good quality- French ( no supermarket rubbish !) then on to Chicken breast / minted potatoes marvelous garnish and crisp skins ❤️ fluffy inside.

We prefer an early dinner but it filled up fast so online booking recommended.

Staff were friendly, chatty and knowledgeable about the food with a clear speciality board ( good idea)
Am not a fan of oysters but the Oyster bar looked epic and was busy .
Well recommended and certainly a foil for The Ivy if you fancy a change of venue . Formidab’le

Orion is an absolute standout. The beautifully plated entrées immediately catch your eye, and the flavors deliver just as strongly. Everything tasted fresh, well-balanced, and thoughtfully prepared. The atmosphere is sleek and inviting, and the service is attentive without being overbearing. An all-around excellent dining experience that I highly recommend and will definitely be back.
