This place is awesome. It has a great old school kitchen feel with dim lighting, a good atmosphere, and an amazing aroma. It felt like I was not in Rexburg, and the fully native staff added to the authentic experience.
If you know what Thai curry/food is and enjoy it, you won’t be disappointed. If you’re expecting Indian curry or Chinese style dishes, just know that the flavors and textures are different. I was a little hesitant to bring others here since it was my first time, but it turned out to be a much better sit down experience than I expected. The food tasted better than it looked and I would definitely recommend this place and plan to come back.
If you’ve never had Thai food before, this is a great spot with lots of good options. I can only speak for the coconut curry and cashew stir-fry, but both were excellent. The appetizers were also pretty good, we had the gyoza.

Small cute restaurant. The food was delicious! I had the basil chicken and it hit the spot. The mango chili my kiddo got was full of mango pieces. So creamy and delicious! Highly recommend!

It was good and service was good too. I tried the Pad See Ew. It was good but not amazing. Their cream Rangoon was amazing though!

Original Thai – A Warm Hug in Rexburg
Sometimes you don’t just crave food — you crave comfort. That’s exactly what I found at Original Thai in Rexburg. It’s not just a place to eat; it’s a little escape wrapped in fragrant rice, fresh herbs, and soul-soothing spices.
From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed — like they already knew I needed a good meal and a peaceful place to sit. The atmosphere is low-key and calm, with just the right amount of warmth to make you want to stay a little longer.
Now let’s talk about the food. Wow. You can taste the love and tradition in every bite. The curry? Creamy, balanced, and bursting with flavor. The pad Thai? Comforting and just the right kind of tangy-sweet. Every dish was made with care — and I could feel that. It wasn’t rushed, it wasn’t mass-produced — it was intentional. Honest food from people who take pride in what they do.
There’s something beautiful about eating food that comes from a place of integrity — and this is that kind of place. It reminded me that kindness isn’t always loud. Sometimes, it’s tucked inside a warm bowl of jasmine rice and served with a gentle smile.
So if you’re ever in Rexburg and your soul needs a little rebalancing, this is where you go. Original Thai isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a quiet little reset. And for me, it was exactly what I needed.

This is a pretty good eat. I left feeling very full and I loved the authentic taste and texture of the food. I saw another comment mention this, but I also wish the atmosphere was a little brighter; this does not change my opinion on the food and service, however. We also went in with our 8 month old child and neither of the restrooms had a changing table, so beware. But other than those things, I would highly recommend eating here if you are looking for a good eat.

I’ve been there once during my college days and wasn’t impressed but my friends were hyping it so I thought maybe it got better but it was just how I remembered. The portions are huge but in terms of flavor and service I was not impressed. The most wet pad Thai I’ve had you’d think it’s a soup
the place is super dark which I think is intentional but I shouldn’t need my flash light to see. My baby was playing was playing with the fake lantern on the table and she dropped it the waitress took it almost like she were mad cause it was dropped & we were left with no light on our table…
also if you order something and you change your mind they force it on you. After eating the food we changed our mind on the dessert and my friend went and told the waitress and she told her it was already made which in my head I’m like ok and? So we ended up taking it but honestly that was probably the best thing we ate there.

Oh, dear readers of my culinary escapades! I find myself compelled to regale you with tales of my sojourn to this magnificent establishment on not one, but two splendid occasions. Both instances were nothing short of delightful, akin to discovering a fabulous treasure hidden beneath a pile of mundane rocks. The service, my friends, is exemplary—nay, it’s positively regal! The waitstaff, with the swiftness of a gazelle and the attentiveness of a doting mother hen, continually check in on your every whim, ensuring that your gastronomic delights are delivered to your table with astonishing alacrity. Now, let us discuss the veritable feast that is the cuisine! The flavors are as authentic as a Siamese kitten in a temple, and when one dares to flirt with the spicy side of the menu, rest assured that your taste buds will be treated to an exhilarating tango of heat that could rattle even the most stoic of souls. I wholeheartedly implore you to indulge in the heavenly pad Thai, the delectable spring rolls, and the sumptuous chicken rangoon—each morsel a delightful hug for your palate, both incredibly scrumptious and impressively satiating! The personnel, with their cheerful demeanor, add a sprinkle of joy to the already delightful atmosphere, which, I assure you, is as inviting as a warm embrace on a chilly day. Therefore, I declare this establishment a veritable paradise for enthusiasts of Thai cuisine, all at prices that would make even the most frugal of folks raise an approving eyebrow. Without an ounce of hesitation, I bestow upon this culinary gem a resounding 10 out of 10, and I heartily recommend that you add it to your Must-Visit list posthaste!

I have read a lot of the 1 and 2 stars reviews, and I will say that aside from the curry (because I haven’t tried it.) I’d tell you to disregard the negatives. The orange chicken is perfectly crispy and the sauce is slightly runny but if you are used to Panda express sauce anything will be runny. It is a delicious honey base orange sauce! And if you find it too sweet, your in luck!! Because they have a bowl of white rice that helps balance out the sweetness. And the Cashew Chicken and the Pad Thai are me and my girlfriend’s favorites. The Pad Thai has a delightful sweet sauce where the Cashew Chicken is a mouth watering savory. So if you want really good food, again I say disregard the negative reviews. (P.S. — Someone left a bad review because “the white rice was bland.” It’s white rice. What did you expect?)

Honestly kinda disappointed. The summer rolls were 90% iceberg lettuce, and it seemed like the veggies in the noodles were frozen instead of fresh. I did love the strips of ginger in the noodles though.
