Today was our first time, we ordered carne asada burritos and Huaraches. We’ve been looking for some authentic restaurants since moving to the area not long ago, and were happy to finally find one that did not disappoint. We look forward to trying… well everything!

My wife and I recently took our grand treasure, Zak, out for lunch at Original Taqueria 2 in Sterling. When we walked in, the delightful aromas coming from the kitchen set a promising tone for the meal. The atmosphere was pleasant, and our waitress was friendly and attentive.
However, the experience didn’t quite live up to expectations. Unlike many Mexican restaurants in the Sterling-Rock Falls area, chips and salsa are not complimentary, which we’ve grown accustomed to receiving as part of the dining experience.
For our meals, my wife ordered the steak fajitas, I ordered a steak burrito, and Zak had a kid’s quesadilla with cheese fries. While the flavors were decent, there were several disappointing aspects. My wife’s fajitas were very dry and lacked the sizzle and presentation you expect from fajitas.
My burrito was another letdown. I had specifically ordered it with beans, sour cream, onion, and cilantro, but it arrived with just meat inside—none of the extras I had asked for. This oversight made the dish feel incomplete and disappointing.
While the service was friendly and the flavors were good, the lack of attention to detail in the food made the experience less enjoyable. There are other Mexican restaurants in the area that offer a better dining experience and value, so we’ll likely stick with those when we’re in the mood for Mexican food. That said, I wish Original Taqueria 2 success as they work to establish themselves in the community.

From rockfalls we travel to the location in Morrison all the time. SO happy they have a location in sterling now!! Great food very recommended

Their food is good but their margaritas are really weak. They are pre-made with the alcohol already in it. Didn’t take like there was anything in it.
