Awesome place, easy big parking lot: vibing atmosphere and kind and helpful service.
I got the Happy Goat: honestly this was almost the perfect sandwich,
You got the salty from the sliced turkey, the fresh and crisp from the lettuce and tomato, Bitter from the caramelized onions; the creamy tangy from the goat cheese; sweet from the Jam. . . The only thing I think this sandwich was missing was a little spice to cut the sweetness. Also warmth and crunch were missing-
I think the bread should’ve been toasted.
If those two things had happened this Sandwich would have been my Kryptonite
But all in all, a great sandwich.

Went here because I heard they had Coronation Chicken… I’m a Brit and I love the stuff. I wasn’t disappointed.

The subs are absolutely outstanding, built on homemade bread, homemade goat cheese, and local jams that make everything taste fresh, intentional, and made with love, instead of the cookie cutter feel you get with chains. The ingredients are clearly high quality, and the overall vibe feels very New York in the best way. Best subs in Toledo. They have also reubens, paninis, and even a cuban style sandwich.
The space is part of the experience too. It’s set in an old mixed use brick building with a rustic, eclectic feel that makes you want to hang out and take your time. On top of that, the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the whole place feels like a genuinely safe, comfortable spot to be. I’m mad at myself for not discovering this place sooner. If you’ve ever thought about stopping, do it. You won’t regreit it.

Just outside of downtown Toledo, only minutes from the Zoo, this cozy sandwich shop is a hidden gem. The space is alive with hanging plants and colorful artwork, creating an inviting atmosphere that feels both vibrant and relaxed. The staff brings big energy, genuine kindness, and laughter.
The menu offers toasted paninis, stacked subs, and comforting soups and gazpachos that rotate with the seasons.
Great lunch spot.

What a jewell for the city have. Homey comfortable decor, very friendly and knowledgeable staff, and outstanding food. I had the black beef sub, it was delicious and filling.High quality ingredients and fairly priced. My date shared her stuffed pepper soup and I was pleasantly suprised with how meaty it was. Very tasty. She also had me taste her blackberry bread pudding. Outstanding! I didn’t know I liked bread pudding until now. Definitely a must visit more often place.

Five stars all the way. Original Sub Shop & Deli is a Toledo classic for a reason. The subs are loaded, fresh, and consistently delicious, with bread that’s perfect every time. The staff is friendly, fast, and clearly takes pride in what they do. Whether you’re a longtime regular or stopping in for the first time, you’ll leave full and happy. I don’t get to go here often, but I make a point to whenever I’m in the area. What a phenomenal place! Homemade food served with care and pride by some of the friendliest people I’ve ever met in this metropolitan area. Excellent cuts of meat and outstanding vegetarian and vegan options for those with such inclinations. A true gem in Toledo.

I love supporting local businesses and this place did not disappoint. So many vegetarian options, I had a hard time deciding. I ended up ordering the curried chickpea salad sub and it was a delicious mess. First, who offers such a random vegetarian option in a sub shop? Second, the sub roll was fresh and perfectly soft, the lettuce and tomato slices were super fresh, and the chickpea salad was clearly homemade. Messy? Yes. But so worth it. The historic building itself is also incredible and the service was professional and friendly. I will definitely be back to try some of the other vegetarian options.
