I’ve been plant based since 2014 and in a world where everything is a beyond or impossible Meat patty with little to no seasoning with sauces that are mid at best. This burger was incredible! All burgers (except the Western) can be made fully vegan or just vegetarian and as a single or double. They use a locally made plant based meat option.
I got The Mack and man oh man it was nostalgic and somehow better than a big mack. Perfect sized burger, well seasoned patty, crispy patty edges while still being juicy, good sauce and veggies ratio. You can tell everything is made in house, with love, and not as an after thought just because it’s plant based.
The staff were great, I watched them crank out a big rush before closing time. The place is small in the back of a neighborhood dive bar. Decorated with burger challenge photos, Bob’s Burgers merch, and other cute decorations. It feels like a comfy mom and pop type place.
I’m both sad and glad that I don’t live in NOLA because of how often I would go to indulge here.

Everything I read said to check this place out, and they were not kidding. The service, the laidback ambience and the food, everything you want in a southern burger joint.

Oh lord – let me tell you a little bit about Original Slap Burger. Tucked away in the back of Marie’s bar is a couple of super friendly folks making some slapping burgers. My wife got the Large Mac (single) and I got the OG (single). Ready in just about 5 minutes and both burgers definitely slapped! OG was dripping with sauce so make sure you lean in. Mack was outstanding too. The single patties were tasty. I think if I got a double and fries I’d need a nap. Highly recommend this place! Pay cash and save a couple bucks.

No lying, I live about 8 blocks away and have eaten at least 100 Heater burgers from Slap Burger. This is the best burger I’ve ever eaten in my life. Patty is cooked crispy outside, juicy inside, and it sits all sloppy in your hands. Seriously try this stuff. Marie’s bar is awesome and cash only.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for so long! I really didn’t like how dirty the bar was but I digress. You have to walk through Marie’s bar to get to the burger place in the back. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I got the heater burger which was delicious and had the perfect kick. The fries are actually really good too. The bar in the front is cash only and they charge $3 for a small cup of cold drink

We all know that New Orleans is a culinary wonderland, but what do you do when all you want is a simple, well-made burger? For me, the Original Slap Burger is the answer – and what a great answer it is! A small burger joint, in the back of Marie’s Bar, manned by two enthusiastic fellows who really know their way around a grill.
There are a half-dozen burger variations available – such as the quad, a four-patty burger, an impressive and even slightly frightening concoction. Fries are on the menu, too, along with a more-than-expected number of available sides. And there is flan for dessert!
We just ordered ourselves two regular cheeseburgers minus the onions, and also fries, and yes, two portions of flan. The burgers were perfect! And the preferred condiment, “Slap Sauce,” was delicious. It’s an inventive combination of mayonnaise, mustard, cumin, and other spices . Completely yummy. The fries were great – each had a satisfyingly salty and crunchy exterior, and a warm, softer interior. They were big fries, not little skinny fries, and portioned so generously I thought my to-go bag might not hold them! Last of all, the flan was superb, easily the match of the flan I had ordered the night before at a very fancy and expensive restaurant.
This little burger joint has my highest recommendation. Kudos to the guys behind the counter, both of them true artists, producing true art in the heart of the French Quarter.

Before i go to a new restaurant, I read the first three 5 star reviews and the first three 1 star reviews. Saw that all the 5 star reviews were about the food, All the 1 star reviews were about the bar it’s connected to, Not the actual burger spot. I saw how the owner responded to the 1 star reviews and that guaranteed my visit. Best burger i’ve ever had in new orleans and one of the top burgers i’ve ever had to begin with. Decent price, Straight forward employees, Absolute 10/10 spot.

Food is FRESH and flavorful. This is that just-greasy-enough, well-seasoned burger on a perfect bun with a house sauce that you want to dip your fries in. The menu is limited because the formula is simple and effective. ANY burger is going to be delicious. I had the Western Burger. No complaints.
