Established in 1956 by the Rocca Family, Original Joe’s Restaurant in San Jose, California has been the cornerstone of an ever-changing downtown and the growth of Silicon Valley. Descended from the first Original Joe’s founded in 1937 in San Francisco, the San Jose Original Joe’s was the first San Francisco based restaurant to open in San Jose in the South San Francisco Bay Area now known world wide as the heart of Silicon Valley. Today Original Joe’s continues to serve its cuisine with a traditional San Francisco flair. We offer breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, salads, Italian cuisine prepared in our scratch kitchen, pasta, steak, chicken, seafood, and more!

First place in the States where I’ve had soda not tasting chlorine! And the food was just AMAZING. The charbroiled chicken was cooked to perfection, and the vegetables was not too tender, just the way I love it.

The minestrone soup was delicious and had great vegetable portions along with the other ingredients. The chicken and broccoli with penne on the other hand were terrible. Many of the pieces of chicken apparently were old pieces of chicken and not made fresh. For the amount of money spent, I expected a little better quality. Service and personnel were inviting and attentive.

I like to go here for some dinner dates with my fiance. They have a great selection of wine, good service and it is not too pricey! The atmosphere is very good and it is nice to just get away for an evening for a little date night. It has a parking lot around the back for parking that is not free, but it is not too expensive so you don’t have to worry about parking downtown since it is a little crazy down there. I would definitely recommend.

The classic is still open and doing a brisk business at least during my visit on a Wednesday evening. It had been over a decade since my last stop at original Joe’s and now dating back 50 plus years as a family favorite. Prices have gone up do not expect a bargain meal but you don’t feel cheated with the value and the size of the portions. Excellent service continues through the generations of staff. Prime rib was solid disregard many of the comments you might see here about gristle and poor quality there was nothing wrong with this piece of meat.
