I have been a regular customer, visiting about once a week for the past two months. While the food quality has been inconsistent (sometimes undercooked and hard to chew), I continued to come until this incident. After how this was handled, I will never return or recommend this establishment.Incident on 12/24 (Food Safety Concern):
During my visit, a large non-service dog was inside the restaurant, positioned near the kitchen entrance and drink fountain. A woman who appeared familiar with staff was standing with the dog. I personally observed two employees (identical twins) exit the kitchen wearing food-handling gloves, pet and interact with the dog, then return directly to the kitchen. Both employee did not change gloves and wash hands before re-entering food prep areas. I was actively waiting for my food at the time and watched the entire interaction closely. This is a clear violation of basic food safety and sanitation standards. Animals should not be inside a restaurant, and touching an animal while wearing food-service gloves then returning to food prep is unacceptable. I immediately brought this concern to the store manager, Abraham, who attempted to dismiss it by claiming gloves were changed but never said he washed his hands. This was not accurate based on my direct observation. Follow-up on 12/30 (Management Conduct):
I called to report the incident and spoke with Angie, who identified herself as a manager. She acknowledged that dogs are not typically inside restaurants, apologized, and offered a courtesy discount, which I did not request.
When I arrived later that day as I told Angie what time I would come. I waited over 15 minutes. Angie never came out, and I was then told she was on break despite earlier saying give her a few mins and she would be out . Abraham then approached me saying he was the manager Angie is the lead and became aggressive, dismissive, and argumentative, repeatedly accusing me of seeking a discount instead of addressing the documented sanitation issue. He talked over me, attempted to justify the dog being inside, and showed zero accountability or concern for food safety. I have spent a hundreds and seemed for discount. He kept saying “ what do you want , you a discount cause if a dog ?” I like no she offered me one I called to voice my concerns. When asked for ownership contact information, I was only told the owner was “in Texas, you can’t his name, with no further assistance provided. I said ok I’ll email them company and today z
Conclusion:
This establishment
• Employees touching animals with food gloves
• Management dismissing legitimate sanitation concerns
• Hostile and unprofessional behavior toward a customer reporting health risks
I am deeply concerned about cleanliness, cross-contamination, and public health safety at this location. I strongly encourage ownership and the local health department to review surveillance footage from both 12/24 and 12/30. This experience was unacceptable and alarming. I will not be returning.
The Greek Salad with Lemon Vinaigrette is awesome. I asked for no cheese and still came with cheese. The salads aren’t huge so I always order a drink/smoothie. The coconut chia granola was fair tasting, I thought it was a smoothie but it was a coconut cream with Chia seeds in it with granola, blueberry and strawberry. I feel more blueberry and strawberry at the bottom of the cup would improve this item as I ate the fruit before the granola and coco cream was gone, but I ate it entirely proving the salad wasn’t enough to fill the hunger pains. Great seating inside and out and clean establishment with plenty parking.
I’m not a fan of using the self-serve kiosk, but it’s not the worst thing .. I’m just old fashion I guess.
But, whether I’m stopping in for a quick lunch or just want something wholesome, ChopShop always delivers. Highly recommend! <3
Overall, the roasted vegetables throughout our meals tasted old and lacked freshness. For a health-focused restaurant, I expected fresh, vibrant, and high-quality ingredients. Unfortunately, the experience felt more like fast food than a place that prides itself on healthy meals.
