Original American Kitchen (OAK) has been around for eight years in charming downtown Gainesville, FL. Our drive is to provide great service, quality food, and tasty craft beer & cocktails to our guests. We specialize in southern classics with some modern touch, and are open for Monday lunch, brunch (Fri-Sun) and nightly dinner offering different menus for each dining experience! Catering is another focus of ours as we host events on & off-site for any type of event or group size. Please note our hours are for food service, our bar does remain open after dinner service is done. We serve a late-night food menu Thursday-Saturday past 12 AM.
New Southern fare, craft cocktails & self-pour beer & whiskey served in a brick- & wood-lined space.

OAK in downtown Gainesville was such a nice surprise. The space feels warm and inviting, with rustic details mixed with modern touches. Upscale dining experience with modern log cabin feel to the decor. Went here for lunch during the week with my husband. We enjoyed a mule, Oak smashburger with fried egg, waffle fries, and grilled cheese with tomato soup. Food was ready in about 15 minutes. About $100 with generous tip.
The place was nicely decorated. Restrooms were clean. We decided to eat outside since it was a nice day. Upside = it was sunny. Downside = there was a friendly fly which luckily, appeared at the end of our lunch date.
Parking is metered via parking app; $0.60 for every 30 minutes. We would come back here again for lunch. Thanks for a nice first visit

OAK has such amazing food and service! My friends and I love going on Thursday’s for Trivia, the manager Colin provides a great atmosphere and is really attentive. All of the servers I’ve had have been great, especially Tabitha who always provides a fantastic dining experience! I love their brunch menu and happy hour.

Solid regular american food with a great self service beer wall. Was hear during the fest. They have some health options, plenty of beer and t.v.s with sports. You can’t go wrong. The patio has heaters and fans to keep the outside seating going all year. Staff was super pleasant and food was quick and delicious.

• We usually get great service every time we come. However, our most recent visit, our server wasn’t very attentive and we were waiting on water refills for a bit before I had to stop her and ask.
ATMOSPHERE:
• The music can be too loud sometimes, making you feel like you’re in a bar setting and have to yell to the person across the table.
I think people would prefer a more lower music volume to chat with people.
Overall, this place is worth it!

This place blew me away from start to finish. Even though there was a short wait, the host let us know it would be about 30 minutes, and we were seated even sooner. Our server Tabitha greeted us with waters right away and took our drink orders both the smoked old fashioned and the gimlet were outstanding. The whipped feta appetizer was creamy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. For my entrée, I had the salmon, cooked to perfection, with tender broccolini on the side. The whole experience was tied together by the inviting atmosphere, complete with a southern-inspired design and a fun beer wall. Had my daughter’s birthday brunch here. Party of 9! Seated immediately (we had a res) and the place was very nice and open inside. A bit warm but not bad.
Started with 2 biscuit apps and those biscuits were awesome! Perfectly done in the gravy.
Lunches were mostly smash burgers which were good but pretty standard. Lots of fries which was nice.
country fried steak and breakfast tacos were also good.
We ended with peach crumble and that was not. Had a bourbon taste that was too strong and not mentioned on the menu.
The girls all loved the bottomless mimosas and our server Kaci was excellent. We had a ball!

Great food!! We went to OAK over the weekend for my daughter’s 19th birthday. She is a student at UF and we were in Gainesville visiting her. I found OAK from a recommendation on FB and it did not disappoint! The food, service and atmosphere was amazing! Our server Isabelle was awesome, very sweet and knowledgeable about the menu. We had such a great experience here and will definitely return when we are in town!
