Original American Kitchen (OAK) has been around for eight years in charming downtown Gainesville, FL. Our drive is to provide great service, quality food, and tasty craft beer & cocktails to our guests. We specialize in southern classics with some modern touch, and are open for brunch (Sat & Sun) and dinner (daily) offering different menus for each. Catering is another focus of ours as we host events on & off-site for any type of event or group size. Our bar is open on weekends until 12 AM for late night cocktails, beer or wine!
New Southern fare, craft cocktails & self-pour beer & whiskey served in a brick- & wood-lined space.

Ordered take out salmon cakes and house salad.. Received no utensils or napkins.. Luckily I travel with utensils.. Salmon cakes were dry and burned on one side attempted to covered with sauce… Only gave 3s due bartender service being attentive.

I watch people in their jobs. One bartender was on her toes Arianna, and excellent both in recommendations and service. The second one was not so into the task at hand. Honestly didn’t have high expectations because the name of the restaurant isn’t very interesting but was pleasantly surprised. The appetizer of fried jalapeños was delicious. Cocktails were yummy & unique. Entree was tasty, hot, and speedy. Service was nice and attentive. Overall really good experience!

So happy to have found this amazing place!! We loved our cocktails! I especially enjoyed my Holiday in Tulum, this mezcal drink is outstanding!! Pretzel with spinach and artichoke dip, deviled eggs, fried green tomato sliders, desserts, everything was delicious!! The wood decor is cozy and fun! It did get a bit loud (it was Friday night) but the food and drinks were worth it!!

Stopped at this restaurant on the way out of Gainesville. The on duty manager Collin, told us at the door they wouldn’t be open for about 45 minutes for brunch. There wasn’t many other choices in downtown, so we waited out in our car. Tasty specialty cocktails and great food! The food was very good. My husband had the short rib with garlic mashed and candied carrots. I don’t eat carrots but I tried one and I liked it. I was surprised. I had the lamb pops with garlic mashed and asparagus. The medium well on the lamb was just right and the asparagus was seasoned nicely. We’d definitely stop in again when in town
