ORIGIN KOREAN BBQ
Reviews
This time we ordered the Origin Special Set Large (for 4 people). The portion was great, and honestly their meat quality is consistently solid—never disappointing. With how busy they always are, the meat is definitely fresh.
MEATS
• Prime Boneless Short Rib: Beautiful marbling—my personal No.1
• Brisket: Thin-sliced, edges get slightly crispy on the grill—so good
• Garlic Seasoned Short Rib: The garlic seasoning is chef’s kiss—king of kings
• Pork Belly: Best paired with kimchi (the ultimate combo)
• Marinated Prime Bulgogi: We even ordered an extra plate after finishing the set!
Their staff grills everything table-side, so you don’t need to lift a finger. They control the heat perfectly —no stress, no risk of burning your precious meat.
Side dishes & hot items were comforting too:
• Cheese corn: Loved by both adults and kids
• Kimchi & Salad: Keeps everything balanced
• Doenjang beef noodle army stew: Slightly spicy, flavorful broth, and quite a large portion—perfect after eating all the meat, that satisfying soup + noodle combo!
Secret little trick:
Say this to your server:
“show me the origin”
and you’ll get a hidden Japchae (beef glass noodles)! It comes loaded with ingredients—our table finished it in 10 seconds.
We came on a Monday night—after around 7:30 PM it started getting busy and tables filled up quickly. The restaurant has a lively vibe, and parking is $10.
The food was really good — everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and the quality of the meat stood out. I especially loved the pork belly here. The server helped cook the meat on the grill, so you can just relax and enjoy the meal instead of constantly flipping everything.
The place itself is clean and modern. However, parking in the area can be difficult
Also, the noodle soup — was way too salty for my taste
Overall though, we had a great experience. Not a cheap spot, but the quality of the food and service make it worth it.
Reservations are recommended ahead of time when possible. It’s located at Chapman Plaza. There’s a small parking lot – $10 for 2hrs when it’s not full.
Our favorite dishes were:
~ Marinated prime bone-in Galbi 5⭐️
~ Prime Ribeye steak 5⭐️
~ Corn with cheese 5⭐️
~ Premium pork jowl 4⭐️
~ Premium thin pork belly 3⭐️
The atmosphere was really nice — perfect for chatting and enjoying some BBQ.
We ordered the couple’s set.
Both the short ribs and the marinated short ribs were delicious, and the meat was super tender.
The steamed egg was also really good — it practically melted in your mouth.
We also added:
• Dumplings: the wrapper was nice and crispy
• Seafood pancake: loaded with ingredients
• Kimchi fried rice: very flavorful and super satisfying
The staff helped grill everything for us, so we didn’t have to do it ourselves the whole time.
Overall, it was a great experience and we had a really enjoyable meal.
Bonus tip: if you tell the server “Show me the origin,” you’ll get a free plate of beef trimmings and mixed veggies
The only downside was that the soup noodles (or hotpot) were way too salty for my taste, definitely on the high-sodium side, which isn’t the healthiest.
The service was outstanding. The staff was attentive, changed the grill regularly, and made sure everything went smoothly. The atmosphere was clean, comfortable, and perfect for dining with friends or family.
Overall, great value for the price. Highly recommend for anyone who loves Korean BBQ. Will definitely come back!
Fun spot in the old Baekjeong location in Chapman plaza. Parking is still outrageous but still easy access lots of locations in the plaza. Original Korean BBQ is such a generic name I was very hesitant to even try. There’s no Korean phonetic sounds or familiar romanization of Korean words.
But it felt like an upscale Korean BBQ joint with modern decor and decent selection of meats and Banchan. My wife and I got the Duo set and came with ramen noodles at the end which help digest all the meats.
Fun place, definitely recommend and will come back
