My family and I have been coming here for over a decade and we love Oriental Wok’s food. Whenever I leave Vermont I miss their takeout. Everything I’ve tried on their menu is delicious and the owners are awesome. I’d highly recommend supporting them and their business.

My son and I are in the process of visiting every Chinese restaurant in Chittenden County, VT. We always order the same thing.

I order a chicken and broccoli combo with pork fried rice and an egg roll. My son orders a sesame chicken combo with pork fried rice and beef teriyaki sticks.

As a pretext, I must mention that my son and I have frequented Oriental Wok for several years now, with this being his favorite Chinese restaurant.

Price: $21.26 or $.26/oz is very reasonably priced with what we would find in Chittenden County.

Portion: 5.1 lbs between the two meals is quite generous and above average in this region.

Pros: – High traffic convenient location near Hannaford in the Essex Outlets in Essex, VT.
– Convenient high traffic location
– The egg roll was super tasty, perhaps the best in this region
– Delicious sesame chicken
– Provided 1 duck sauce container & 2 fortune cookies
– The newer microwavable containers are being used
– Generous portions at a reasonable price

Cons:
– They didn’t provide soy sauce packets, napkins or utensils
– In general, the food lacked flavor
– For me, the rice makes or breaks the meal. The pork fried rice lacked flavor and tasted very average.

Impression: Convenient Essex location near Hannaford in Essex offering generous sized portions of generally good tasting food at a reasonable price. My son rates Oriental Wok 5.0 stars and I’m rating it 3 stars earning Oriental Wok a 4.0 star review.

Best Chinese food in Essex!!!!!!!
Especially during dinner times they do habit of misleading customers on times when to pick up your food. Meaning if they say 1 hour. It could be 1 hour 30 minutes. Still worth the wait!!!!!

The pork fried rice is so bad tonight, no pork! And tasteless…..called to see if the recipe had changed, not so. If this was my first time ordering, it would be my last time!

Some food was adequate, but the General Tso’s chicken was horrendous. The sauce was actually tasty, but the “chicken” was 90% over-fried coating with bits of severely dry and nasty meat in it. I can’t believe I ordered (and wasted) a large order of this as it was on the “Chef’s Special Suggestions” section. Nobody should be suggesting that. Awful, awful, awful.

Usually pretty good. Tonight we got the Kung Pao 3 Delights. It’s supposed to have shrimp, beef, and pork. It did, but was mostly celery. If I wanted celery as a main course I would’ve just eaten celery.

So delicious, so fresh, vegetables, sauces, tofu and much more.
We have been ordering meals at OW for over 10 years. It just keeps getting better.
Excellent service. Efficient, precise and welcoming. Thanks again for a totally enjoyable dinner.

First pic is “Cantonese style chow mein” second pic is the “kung pao beef” and third pic is an example of what Cantonese style chow mein should look like. Noodles were burnt and inedible(my girlfriend literally didn’t touch it) , chicken is underdone or old and whole dish was covered in a white snot like film. This was a sad excuse for cantonese style chow mein especially given the $15.95 price tag. The kung pao beef consisted of 80% celery and green peepers and our order of sesame chicken tasted like it was drenched in soy sauce. Don’t waste your money here.

Stopped here for the first time yesterday while in the area for a business trip.
I don’t think I’ll ever again be satisfied eating at Chinese restaurants where I’m from after having the amazing food I got yesterday.
It was so fresh, I waited about 10 minutes to eat my food and it was still hot. The teriyaki chicken was nothing like I’ve experienced at my local restaurants. It was so juicy and there was SAUCE?!? I wanna know where the sauce is over my way because they’re always served dry where I’m from… looking like chicken jerky lol
The young lady who took my order was so sweet and kind.
Whenever I wind up over that way again, this will be my #1 spot to go for lunch or dinner.
All in all it was a pleasant experience for my first time in the area, and I will be going back the next time I’m in VT.
Thank you so much for the delicious food ❤️

I love Chinese food and I have to say, since I moved back to Vermont, this has been my favorite hands down. Prices are also reasonable. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. Even their fish are friendly ha ha
