We ordered sweet&sour pork and beef fried rice. The fried rice was so delicious and it was not salty which was perfect for me. But sweet & sour pork was not crispy so I cannot recommend this menu. Overall this place was great!

We select this restaurant for dinner at random and we got lucky.
The service is excellent, the lady is very friendly and helpful! We had the drunken garlic pork ribs (蒜香醉排骨) and hot and sour fish with Chinese pickled cabbage (酸菜鱼), it was absolutely yummy and the portion of the fish is out of this world, totally worth the price.
Would definitely recommend to others and revisit next time if I happen to be in Nelson again!

What an absolute gem! This place is easily the best Chinese spot in Nelson — top-quality food, full of flavour, and you can tell it’s made with real care. Every dish we had was spot on, fresh, and beautifully cooked.
We’ve tried a few places around town, but this one’s on another level. Proper tasty food, generous portions, and great value for money. If you’re after an amazing Chinese meal in Nelson, this is the place to go. Can’t recommend it enough!

We tried veggie spring rolls, fried chicken wings which was really good! We also tried beef noodle soup and ginger chicken noodle soup but as much as we like the beef and chicken we didn’t really like the quality of the noodle itself. I think it would be better with better noodle choice. Overall a good dinner, lovely staff.

The owner truly knows how to cook， the dishes here are honestly better than many Chinese restaurants I’ve tried. Everything tasted authentic, well-balanced, and full of flavor.
The prices are very reasonable, the portions are generous, and I really appreciated the beautiful presentation and decoration on each dish, you can tell a lot of care goes into the food.
Every dish we ordered was delicious, and the flavors were outstanding. Highly recommended if you’re looking for great Chinese food. Will definitely be back!

I stayed in Nelson for two days and ate at this restaurant twice. The food is really good, with an authentic Chinese flavor. The owners, Chen and his wife Cindy, were very nice. They recommended delicious dishes and nearby tourist spots, making us feel very welcome. The sizzling chicken and beef, Peking-style ribs, and fish-flavored pork were all incredibly tasty. I’ll definitely come back next time. Besides please try the chill source it’s homemade omg so good !!!

First time here and my experience at the Oriental Restaurant was quite satisfying. Their food portions were generous. Taste-wise, everything I sampled was delightful, we particularly like the sour pickled fish soup. The cleanliness of the dining area also deserves commendation. Pricing was reasonable. While service was attentive, reaching out to the waitstaff could be challenging at times, especially with the dine-in area located on the first floor while they primarily operate on the ground floor. However, the quick takeaway meal section downstairs was a convenient alternative.
