First time coming here. Decent Saturday lunch crowd for a small town. Friendly staff. Plenty of seating as there was 10+ tables in old converted house turned into restaurant. Not much for scenery as there was old pictures and bland decor. I ordered the Japanese specialty hibachi chicken with zucchini. This meal came with cooked carrots, and fried rice. My wife got the sesame chicken with fried rice. This was good as it was made fresh to order, but the taste seemed a little off compared to other restaurants. We also got the egg drop soup and fried wontons. The half order of fried wontons came with five freshly fried wontons, menu said crab and cream cheese although I think it might’ve just been cream cheese only. We also got a bowl of egg drop soup. It was good, but could tell it had been microwaved to heat it up as it wasn’t very fresh.

Stopped in to Oriental Cafe for lunch today for the first time. There were several other people in and out getting takeout at 2:30 on a Monday so that was a good sign! The owner was really nice and friendly, and was talking with the other long-time customers. I started out with an eggroll. It was delicious! I’m here from Charlotte, so used to pork eggrolls at Chinese spots, but theirs have big shrimp in them which was great! I got beef lomaine, and was pleasantly surprised when my plate came out with big pieces of beef and lots of veggies. My friend had the chicken and broccoli and it looked great too. I will definitely be back!

I have never been so disappointed in food. I couldn’t even eat this. I’m not sure what meat that is but it’s not steak. The carrots tasted old and dry. I also got an egg roll and being someone who has allergies I was surprised when there was a shrimp inside of it. Nothing we ordered had shrimp in it at all. I think they ruined Chinese/japanese food for me for the remainder of my pregnancy.

i ordered here for the first time yesterday evening, and the takeout was absolutely great. the portions were large, food was cooked well, and ready when i arrived. i purchased a sesame chicken, cashew chicken, and oriental chicken. after opening it and eating it, i was beyond happy with the meal for me and my family. i’ve looked through the reviews, particularly the bad ones, and i’m disappointed with the dishonesty in people. one of them even says that they ordered a salad? they don’t even serve salads, leaving me with no idea whether or not many of the poor reviews are true. disregarding this, the oriental cafe is a great chinese place in taylorsville to go, and i will definitely be back to eat sometime soon!

Absolutely the worst Chinese food I have ever tasted. It is so bad I cannot even eat it. The chicken is tough and nothing is cooked.
Everything is frozen food warmed up. The rice is not even rice.
Wasted $12.
I have eaten Chinese food in Mexico and Kenya that was better than this.

This was my first time eating here and I’m so glad I did!! The food was delicious, fresh and hot!! Also the service was phenomenal. All restaurants should be this way. I will definitely be eating here again.

I’ve seen a lot of bad reviews on this restaurant and I can confirm that most of them are either one time occurrences or fake. Before I get @ I’d like to specify, this restaurant is definitely hit or miss, either you like it or you don’t. In my opinion, the price is the biggest issue, but because of the pandemic and inflation in prices, I can let it slide.
I started going there about a year or two ago and I’ve never experienced a lack of food, weird looking/tasting food, or not cooked food. A friend of mine worked there and confirmed that most of the food is cooked before the customer gets there; the only exception is the rice, which is made beforehand. Overall great, friendly staff and good prices.
I’m confident that some of these reviews are def not what they seem or outdated. :/

Ordered Chow mein. It had no noodles. When I called, I was told they don’t make it with noodles. If it doesn’t have noodles, it’s NOT chow mein. Used to love this place as a kid. What happened?
Edit: I did call back and was given no help whatsoever at the time. Also, Chow mein and Lo mein traditionally have noodles. What I received was Chop suey. Lo mein has a soft noodle, and Chow mein is supposed to have a fried noodle.

Terrible! Stay far away from here. Tasteless food, worst oriental food I’ve ever had! Appetizers were the worst! Beef so dry, it just crumbles. The shrimp looked disgustingly gray. The chicken wings were fried to a crisp! The bbq ribs had no flavor. The sesame chicken was the only thing I would suggest if you must eat here.

Can’t even say how good the food may or not be. Walked in to eat in, lady was on the phone, so we waited. Soon as she got off the phone, went right to the drive thru without even acknowledging we were standing there. No problem, we’ll wait. Phone rings and she goes right back to completing an order. Walked out and will not return. It wasn’t even busy, so I’m not sure why we were invisible..
