Food is so so good. Grew up with orient as I live close by. Best place IN JOPLIN. Best cashew chicken ever. Complete comfort food. Please don’t ever close. I love this stuff.

My absolute favorite! I moved away from Joplin years ago, but every single time I make it back to town, Orient Express is a dinner must!
Ps- yall need to teach the people near STL how to make good Chinese food!

Waste of $45, sweet and sour chicken consists of freezer burnt chicken strips, beef and broccoli was raw broccoli with the toughest beef. Fried rice must have been soaked in soy sauce.

Orient Express is a solid Chinese food spot. Fast service, friendly staff, and the food is consistently good. Easy place to grab a meal when you want something quick and reliable.

I tried Orient Express and ordered the pot stickers, egg roll, General Tsos chicken, garlic beef, and fried rice. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing overall, especially for the price point. The fried rice didn’t seem fried at all—more like plain rice poured with soy sauce—and most of the dishes were bland and underwhelming. There were no prices listed online beforehand, which made the cost surprising and added to the disappointment. Honestly, I’d rather get Panda Express.

If you like the taste of Soy this is the place for you!! Fried rice is literally white rice covered in soy, Lo mien is exactly the same taste, no additional flavors here!
-portions are odd, the sesame chicken came in a big portion but had to barrow rice for the small portion
Nothing about this place tastes like a Chinese restaurant
Would NOT recommend, unless you just want to taste Soy.. then I’d just recommend buying soy to save money

Every time I’m in the area, I start craving cashew chicken from Orient Express. I like that they use all white meat chicken. And their sauce is awesome!
Really friendly folks there who will ask you about your day, in between answering calls and taking orders.
The building exterior has a koi pond mural that makes me super happy, too.

I have been wanting Chinese for awhile now and decided to try this place. WOW, what a disappointment! First, an order of cashew chicken and crab rangoon cost $17.95. I did like how The chicken came separate from the sauce. Typically cashew chicken has green onions and cashews, this only had cashews. The chicken was like jerky, dried out, tough, not edible. The “crab” rangoon was a runny, nasty, cream cheese filled thing. No crab was found after dissecting two of them. Just a runny mess. Will certainly not be back here.
