We called ahead and was warmly greeted on the phone as it was almost closing time. At the door we waited a bit as there was no host but the one waiter. Understanding as it was late. We did seat soon after and got drinks. They promote margaritas and many other drinks I tried a Oaxaca old fashioned, it was strong but not good. The chips and salsa was ok, as chips are nicely salted and have as good flavor but the salsa very blend. Just a hint of spicy. But lacked custom flavor, more oregano, cilantro or something.
As dished we got sope and it was also blend and did not taste fresh. A burrito special was ok, the meat was ok, lacking marinate and balance. It was over power by the much to much rice, beans and other lettuce and assortment. It did come with so curly fries. They did not disappoint as it was odd, but still good.
Our visit was disappointing so we sent another couple for lunch the next day and the experience was the same. A blend and lack of taste for the great atmospheric experience and name sake’s. Hope you experience something better and enjoy your visit.
Return a few times and it got better.
Viejo Oaxaca drink and sopes. Amazing
Return today Saturday at 1:30 pm, it should open at 11 and it’s closed. No sign or anything.
Overall…change the table and chairs
Drop the price on chips and salsa
Offer a more basic taco as one of your options to eat., but taste and portions were well done.
Our waitress was very helpful also the decor and atmosphere was spot on.
Thanks

I was amazed by the restaurant , I loved the open kitchen and loved loved all the paintings of alebrijes.
The food was amazing, they have a very authentic Mexican flavor and beautiful presentation.
The tamal oaxaqueño transport me back to my grandmas house back in Mexico.
El Pozole, OMG the best ,just like my moms, even the kids menu is outstanding 100% approve from my daughter, she is very special with her Mac and cheese and she loves this one.
We would definitely comeback.
Chips and salsa served at the table.
The fire roasted elote is must!!
To begin with, their choice of tequila for the drinks was disappointing. My senses quickly identified the use of Sauza Tradicional, a tequila that, in my opinion, falls short of the mark. Notably, the reposado variety they employed isn’t traditionally paired with margaritas. On switching to the 1800 Cristalino, the marked improvement in flavor was palpable. I firmly believe that, in the restaurant business, quality should never be compromised.
As for the food, we opted for alambre and tampiquena, both staple dishes in Mexican gastronomy. The alambre, however, was marred by undercooked bacon, which rendered an undesirable greasiness to the dish. Additionally, the tortillas accompanying our meals were undercooked. Though we alerted the staff, their solution of microwaving the tortillas was less than satisfactory. It’s a culinary faux pas to microwave tortillas, as any aficionado would attest. The tampiquena, sadly, was just passable at best.
On a brighter note, the attentiveness of the hostess was commendable, a consistent trait I’ve observed from my initial visit. Yet, the kitchen undeniably needs to elevate its game to match the service standard.
Really disappointed! The place looks ok to good but can’t say the same for the food. Plus ALL food was cold and not well cooked. The serving timing was bad. I tried some tacos and soups but the soup was cold and salty and the tacos are served just wrong. No salsa no limes no onion just cilantro and little red onion. Please do not serve tacos with Vinagre jalapeños. Also, the wood smoke lechón is a fiasco and it does not have a wood/smoke flavor. Finally, the food is overpriced for the quality and far from gourmet and kicks the stomach really bad. So honestly, no good Mexican food. FYI I live in Mexico City for 20 years and I tried all type of traditional and authentic Mexican dishes. So I am familiar with the proper flavors of Mexican food. I tried a michelada and it taste like Worcestershire sauce!!!! I am giving them two stars just because of the Manager that greets you good from the beginning to the end.
From the moment we entered we were greeted and treated like family! The service was fantastic, everyone was so friendly. Adriel (owner) and Santiago (head chef) are fully committed to creating a delightful experience!
We sampled the signature cocktails which were out of this world and sooo delish! We love the El Güey with smoky Mezcal and tamarind and the alebrije (gin and lavender) mmmmmm.
The authentic dishes are both tasty and elevated, covering the basics twisted up to notches unknown and creative options for the expanded palate. We are foodies and also appreciate great Mexican, basic or not. They over delivered!
Make sure to try the apps. Go! Experience! Support! We have been twice and already feel the warm embrace of Familia here!
We were so impressed we are considering catering my husband’s birthday party this summer!!
