The food came out quickly, was cooked as requested, and tasted very good.
Our waitress was professional throughout the evening. However, when it came time to pay and I informed her that I would be using the gift card, she immediately told us that they were not accepting gift cards. Unfortunately, the card was not reviewed, scanned, or checked in any way. She simply advised that it was not accepted, without attempting to verify it. As a result, we had no choice but to pay the full $409.50 bill out-of-pocket using our credit card, including an $82 tip. We had fully intended to apply the gift card toward the bill and pay the remaining balance and gratuity ourselves.
After returning home, I called the restaurant and was told that the gift card did in fact have available funds and could have been used. This was disappointing, as the situation could likely have been avoided had the card simply been checked at the time.
What made this even more surprising is that we recently dined at Insignia, another Anthony Scotto Restaurants location, on January 30, 2026, and had an excellent experience with no issues whatsoever.
This gift card was a thoughtful birthday gift from our son, and we were looking forward to using it. I have since contacted corporate, and they have acknowledged the issue and are working toward a resolution. I hope management will take the necessary steps to ensure proper procedures are followed and that this matter is resolved appropriately. I am sharing this experience so that future guests do not encounter a similar situation. Lastly, it would have been nice to see some form of Valentine’s Day decoration on tables considering the price and special occasion.
