The food is great.
Most recent visit I had: soft shell crab, salt & pepper squid, chicken won ton, and massaman beef curry.
Bottles of Asahi , red wine and an After Seven cocktail.
Very highly recommended.
We also had the duck pancakes which were perfectly cooked and served with a flavoursome hoisin sauce. Can’t wait to come back!
Staff seemed new but nice.
We ordered the hot and sour soup, sweet and sour pork, stir fried broccoli and yam rice – would highly recommend getting the yam rice it was really fragrant and I believed they might have use glutinous rice.
Service was good too with the FOHs helping to clear the plates on time.
The dim sum was absolutely delicious, beautifully made and full of flavour. The rice cooked in lotus leaf was a real highlight, comforting and aromatic, and it truly tasted like something we would have eaten in Asia. The tofu dish and the fish were both outstanding, rich in flavour and perfectly balanced.
Everything felt thoughtfully prepared, from the food to the excellent wine selection, which paired wonderfully with the dishes. Opium delivers authentic flavours with a refined touch, and it is a place we will happily return to. Highly recommended.
Edit: came back and had a really lovely time again, had lovely meals and the drinks were great too!
Would recommend the Shanghai tofu, sweet potato dumplings and braised pork!
