The food was excellent!! I ordered the smothered pork chops, collard greens and mashed potatoes. Everything was seasoned to perfection. No additional salt or other seasonings needed. The meat so tender, no knife required. The name has changed and that needs to be updated on social media. I will definitely return!!

Boooo!

I won’t post any pictures, I don’t want to add to the already not-so-great collection of sides and meats I received on my Friday evening delivery. This was supposed to be dinner. While Uber Eats offers an amazing BOGO free on certain entrees, I was once again shiested out of a whole entree so instead of 3 entrees I only received 2. The BOGO deal is on the chicken wing dinners which would have been ideal given you only receive 3 small chicken wings and 2 sides. There was hardly any sauce on the 3 wings. The sides weren’t great; the sweet potatoes had no flavor and the mac and cheese didn’t leave much for the appetite. I spent $70.00 plus delivery fees and felt very disappointed.

You ever spent your money somewhere and just felt disrespected by what you received. Not unhappy but disrespected. I’m not even on no fat stuff, but who ever was in the back that made my food must’ve been having a bad day because they virtually didn’t put any chicken in my wrap, no salt on the fries and didn’t even have the decency to put a pack of ketchup in my bag. Again I’m not on no fat time but nobody would want to get treated like this and receive this. The wrap is basically 90% wrap and 5% chicken. They wouldn’t make someone they knew food like this, I’m only writing this because this was just disrespectful. And again, I’m Not saying I was expecting a burrito or anything like that, but come on… this was just in unnecessary and a complete waste of money.

This is my first time EVER having to make a review. OOH WEE, it is AWFUL. If I could report this place to the state I would. The food was literally heinous. The jerk was so spicy it could send you to god. I’m not even tryna over exaggerate at all. But you gone be drinking milk with the jerk how spicy it is. The Mac tasted like over boiled pasta with food coloring to make it look like cheese. It was so bad I forgot I was eating Mac. The yams tasted like whoever made it hates the owner how bad it was. The prices so high I paid like $50 for a tiny meal. I also got jerk chicken Alfredo and the bowl was so small I thought it was an appetizer however, they got it written on the board as an entree. This is why I don’t try new shit. I’ve never bought jerk and had to throw it, a homeless person wouldn’t even eat this. I asked her if the pudding was good and she told me “ the best in town” . Let me tell you… it was so bad. Google needs to take their website down. Please do better or shut down. This place is a disaster for the community. The city of Chicago needs to do something about this one.

I had catfish entrée with mac n cheese and asparagus as sides. These were excellent and well seasoned. The
cornbread was cold, hard, dry and had no rise to it. I also ate two desserts: taffy grapes and rainbow sherbet cake. Yum.

The atmosphere is more like a take out restaurant but there are seats. This was my first experience. It took about 20 minutes to prepare. Another friend took about 45 and she ordered BBQ chicken tips, collard greens, yams and mac n cheese. Another friend ordered fried green tomatoes and they both enjoyed their food. My friend’s cornbread was the same as mine. It comes with the entrée.

My shrimp and grits was salty and taste like it was missing something. The yams was really dark and just not tasty for me.

I didn’t get the name at first but after eating here now I understand… you take a pic of your food and when someone says that looks delicious you respond with “OOOH WEE IT IS!!” How on earth does this place have such a low review? Hands down best shrimp and grits of my life. Pot roast cupcake was such a unique idea and tasted amazing. Jerk chicken fries will feed a small army. Obama sweet tea was fruity, which I wasn’t expecting, but tasted really good. My only complaint is that I don’t actually live in Chicago, I’m here for work, so they won’t deliver when I go home!

So disappointed in my order! After waiting a long time for it to be delivered, I received two of the worst soul food dinners I’ve ever had. The catfish was very soggy. The cheese in the mac was not melted. The pot roast was so soupy. The sweet potatoes were decent, but had too much vanilla. The cornbread and green beans were really good and that’s all we ate. I didn’t realize when I ordered it was from this location. I thought it was the 83rd restaurant. But these meals have definitely put a bad taste in my mouth, so I don’t think I’ll be a returning customer.

Food was gas. It hit the soul food spot. It’s really cute in there too. Staff is super chill and kind. Food took like 15-20 to come out as expected. Love this spot. I got BBQ Chicken Wings with Mac & Cheese and Creole Corn. Mac and cheese is REAL GOOD. Banana pudding is really good too.

Sometimes, with bad service comes great food. Not here. They will run out of things, but let you know way after you’ve placed your order or worse, upon pickup. They will close early to avoid accountability for inaccurate inventory. Mac n cheese is okay, but not enough to return. Same for the fried catfish and green beans. If you want to pay too much and wait too long to be served by a smug teenager with nothing but dead-eye blinks and sass on the side, GO HERE! Otherwise, give them the right message: keep changing business names and ownership until you close down without warning. Spend where your dollar and diet matter – not here.
