We dined here twice during our stay at the Four Seasons resort in Westlake and each time we had an excellent experience.

The service is top-notch and the quality of food is outstanding.

Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. A few of our favorites include the Wagyu Ramen, spicy edamame, and brussels sprouts.

They do not have non-alcoholic beer, but the lemongrass ginger tea is delicious.

Definitely recommend Onyx.

We haven’t been out on date night since COVID started (sad, I know), so we were very excited to come to Onyx, especially since the restaurant is located inside the Four Seasons. The hotel itself was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The restaurant is classy, but dress code is casual.

The service was excellent, but the food was so disappointing! The meal started out good enough with the tuna tartare rice cakes and scallop/lobster dumplings, but quickly went downhill. One thing to note: I did not find any garlic chili crunch in the dumplings, but the shellfish broth was delicious (but maybe provide a spoon so patrons can actually drink the broth without looking like barbarians).

We ordered the following maki: toro, hamachi, and spicy tuna. Toro was hands-down the best. The other two were mediocre.

Next came the fried rice and crispy Brussels sprouts. The rice was mushy and overly salty. The Brussels sprouts were over drenched in tonkatsu sauce. Highly do not recommend!

Last item that I also do not recommend is their A5 Wagyu specialty roll. The roll simply tasted like sauce and left a strange, unpleasant flavor in our mouths.

Not only was date night an epic fail, we won’t be back. If you know your food and truly looking for good sushi, this restaurant is not it!!

Incredible dinner! It has been months since I have gone out for sushi and this was a real treat. The fish was all “out of the ocean” fresh and service was fantastic. The shishito pepper appetizer was delicious and huge! The uni was some of the best I have ever had. Beautiful tables on the outdoor upstairs patio overlook the Four Seasons waterfalls and gardens. Could not have asked for a better experience.

I was here for friend birthday.
Google map showing this restaurant located front of four seasons hotel, but actually located inside the hotel first floor.
To be honest food was okay, but they have nice outdoor seating area.
Good to go for summer night dating !

This restaurant came with high expectations but we were extremely disappointed. This was levels below the other restaurant on the same Four Seasons property.

The first thing we noticed was a fishy smell you’d get a low end sushi shop. Service was all over the place, with our plates piling up on the table (we had to move them ourselves to the empty table next to us) and our warm napkins never being removed at all. The waitstaff were friendly but not well trained on the details like sake options, despite the limited menu.

The appetizers were decent at best. The chefs nigiri were served cold. The cherry blossom ice cream desert that appears in all of the ads around the hotel was tasteless.

We went the next night to the other restaurant on the property and could feel the difference. Onyx feels like it’s trying to be something that it’s not.

We went and anticipated a really nice dinner. The restaurant was nice and the staff was nice. The service was not that great and the food was not that great. I expect a lot more out of the Four Seasons. After our $220 “dinner”, we went and had dinner again.

Had dinner there last night. Although restaurant half empty host and manager would not allow any guests or diners to sit. Until 20 minutes later. Wearing high heels we asked if we could sit and have drinks until they are ready. She said NO Kind of rude. Four seasons is know for service and quality for which the restaurant has lost its luster. Menu very small, but Food was good, however……….unfortunately all six of us had light to moderate diarrhea early in the morning. But that was all. I love restaurants that have impeccable service and elegance – so I would wait for them to recover it back before going again. Definitely a disappointment

Wonderful sushi experience. Simple menu but very well crafted. Incredible quality fish so rolls weren’t slathered with sauces and garbage. Every bite was an experience. Bailey the manager checked in on us and talked sushi and sake, and sent over the sake sommelier to get us the perfect sake for our palate and meal. She recommended the seared snapper, which I wouldn’t normally order, but ended up being one of the best bites of sushi I’ve ever had in my life. Desserts were incredible – we had the chocolate cake souffle and the matcha pudding.

Food is unappetising and disappointing. We had the omakase and could not finish the meal as it was bland and not authentic. Expected more from Four Seasons.

Went there with another couple for New Year’s Eve. The 4 course pre-fix menu was good with 2 or 3 choices per course. Presentation and flavors were good. Drinks were pretty expensive and may have had “new year’s eve” prices. Service and staff were all friendly. We had free New Year’s Eve gear on our table (hats, noisemakers, streamers) which was nice. Also included a complimentary glass of champagne.

Would have been 5 stars but it was a little pricey for what you got in my opinion.
