I was in the area and thought I would give it a try since I really miss Hawaii. I believe it’s a chain restaurant because I think I visited one in Fresno last year. Anyways, the chicken and mac salad were pretty good. The beef short rib and teriyaki beef were little tough. Teriyaki sauce is excellent.

I told him before he moved I’d share a bottle of Makers Mark with him each year on the day he moved, and after I left the half empty bottle on Fatheads grave I headed to Ono Hawaiian BBQ for some Hawaiian BBQ chicken. I called the store on a Friday afternoon to order a small tray of chix katsu for Sunday and when i arrived i was greeted by the cashier and the whole transaction was pretty quick. Katsu was hot and fresh. Only one thing i remember out ofcthe ordinary was the use of manual credit card machine. They have to make an inprint of my CC which is kinda weird. Store looks clean and quiet.

Food was good. Not spectacular. We had the chicken katsu and short ribs. Chicken katsu was really good, crunchy coat and juicy/tender meat. Short ribs were a bit dry. Veggies was basically just cabbage. I would go back for the chicken katsu.

Amazingly delicious, healthy and inexpensive fast food restaurant. For about $10 the basic BBQ chicken plate is perfect for TWO people to share… you heard right, yes – one plate of $10 good for two to share: 4 BBQ chicken thighs, 2 scoops of rice, macaroni salad, veggies of cabbage and broccolis with all-you-can-have warm teriyaki and katsu sauces. It really is the perfect meal after our Sunday skate work out at Canada Road.
