We had a great experience at Oniku Shabu Shabu. The AYCE BBQ and shabu-shabu combo is fun and perfect for groups. The meat quality was really good, with a nice variety to choose from, and everything came out fresh.
The restaurant was clean and modern, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Service was mostly quick, though it can get a little busy during peak hours. The shabu broth was decent, but the BBQ side definitely stood out more.
Overall, it’s a solid spot if you’re looking for good-quality meats and want to enjoy both BBQ and shabu shabu in one place. Great for family dinners or group outings.

Oniku is a great new addition to Garden Grove, especially if you can never decide between BBQ and hot pot.

Their all-you-can-eat combo lets you grill and enjoy shabu shabu at the same time, which makes the whole experience more fun. The meat quality was better than I expected for AYCE — nicely marbled beef, tender short ribs, and thin-sliced beef tongue that works well for both grilling and hot pot.

The self-serve section has plenty of vegetables and appetizers, so you won’t run out of options. Service was efficient, and the robot delivery system made ordering smooth and quick.

Overall, a solid value and a fun place to bring friends.

We went with the $53 BBQ & Shabu Shabu combo and it was absolutely worth it. Being able to enjoy both Japanese BBQ and hot pot at the same time made the whole meal so much more fun and customizable.

The meat quality really stood out — the beef was beautifully marbled and super tender, especially the wagyu-style cuts. You can tell this isn’t a typical AYCE spot where quality is sacrificed for quantity. Everything looked premium and tasted even better.

The seafood for the shabu shabu was also a big highlight. The shrimp, scallops, fish, squid, and abalone were very fresh, and cooking them in the hot pot brought out their natural sweetness. It felt more like a high-end hot pot experience rather than a buffet.

If you’re deciding between regular AYCE and something more premium, the $53 BBQ + Shabu Shabu option is definitely the way to go. Great quality, great variety, and an overall amazing dining experience. I’d happily come back again.

Who understands the joy of grilling and hot pot at the same time?

As soon as I walked into Oniku Premium AYCE BBQ & Shabu Shabu, the space felt instantly comfortable. The interior leans toward a clean, modern Japanese style — simple but very polished ✨

The seating is spacious and well-arranged, so it doesn’t feel noisy or crowded. It’s a great spot for friend gatherings or for taking your time to enjoy the meal (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و

We ordered the BBQ + hot pot AYCE, which is perfect if you’re indecisive like me
Both the grill and hot pot menus offer a wide variety of meats, and everything looked fresh and nicely presented. Hearing the meat sizzle on the grill was honestly so satisfying — once you start grilling and eating, it’s hard to stop

For the hot pot, we chose three broths:

Sukiyaki — nicely balanced sweet and savory, very authentic Japanese flavor that gets richer as it cooks
Spicy Miso — mildly spicy and very appetizing; great for dipping meats
Pork Bone Broth — rich but not greasy, very comforting to sip

Their wagyu ribeye was excellent whether grilled or cooked in the hot pot. I especially recommend pairing the seafood platter with the spicy miso broth — the slight heat really brings out the seafood’s natural sweetness.

Being able to grill and hot pot at the same time lets you control your own pace, which makes the whole experience extra enjoyable ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ

If you’re craving BBQ, hot pot, and an all-you-can-eat feast in one place, this spot is definitely worth adding to your list

If you’re bad at choosing, this place is a lifesaver.

All-you-can-eat shabu shabu AND BBQ at the same time? Yes please. No choosing, no regrets — just eat everything.

The place has a cool industrial vibe and it’s honestly perfect for a girls’ night out. Super cute for photos, very IG-friendly.

Seafood platter was super fresh, especially for the price — insane value. And the wagyu? Literally melts in your mouth. Whatever you order, you really can’t go wrong.

The sauces are more on the Korean / Western side, but they taste so good. Even with my very Asian (Chinese) taste buds, I had zero complaints.

Great food, great vibes, great value. Would 100% come back.

This place seriously exceeded my expectations. The quality of the meat here is outstanding — beautifully marbled beef, super fresh slices, and so many premium cuts that you normally wouldn’t see at an all-you-can-eat spot. Everything looked great and tasted even better.

The seafood was also impressive. The shrimp, scallops, squid, fish, and especially the abalone were all very fresh and perfect for shabu shabu. Having both BBQ and hot pot at the same table makes it so fun and worth it, especially if you’re dining with friends who want different things.
For the price, the value is incredible considering the quality and variety. If you’re a fan of Japanese BBQ or shabu shabu, this is definitely one of the best AYCE spots to go to. I’ll 100% be coming back.

BBQ + hot pot in one meal? Yes please.

Just tried the newly opened Oniku in Garden Grove and I love the concept — you get Japanese BBQ and shabu shabu at the same time. No choosing between grilling wagyu or dipping it into sukiyaki broth. You can literally do both.

The meat quality is solid. The marbled beef was rich and flavorful, the beef tongue was thin and slightly crispy, and the short ribs were juicy and satisfying.

Vegetables and appetizers are self-serve with tons of options, and the robot brings your meat orders to the table, which is actually pretty fun.

Great spot for group dinners. I’d definitely come back.

This place has a very cyber-style, futuristic vibe, and the dining concept is just as cool. You can enjoy shabu-shabu and Korean BBQ at the same time, with each table equipped with both an electric hot pot and a grill. It’s a great setup for groups, since everyone can choose what they want without compromise.

One fun highlight is that some of the dishes are delivered by a robot server, which is surprisingly cute and adds to the overall experience. The interior design is modern, trendy, and definitely Instagram-worthy—perfect for hanging out with friends and taking photos.

The meat quality is solid, and there’s also a self-serve vegetable bar that lets you customize and balance your meal however you like. Overall, it’s a fun, well-designed spot with good food and a unique atmosphere. Highly recommended for group gatherings or anyone looking for something a little different.

Tried this place last weekend with a couple of friends, and I’m honestly impressed. I’ve been to plenty of AYCE spots in LA, but the BBQ + Japanese hotpot combo here hits different. It’s the kind of place where you look at the menu and just think: Yep, I’m definitely overeating tonight.

Meat Quality — Way Better Than Expected
• The basic tier already comes with wagyu brisket, which grills beautifully and stays juicy.
• The mid-tier unlocks beef tongue—cut just right, super tender, and easily one of my favorites.
• For the true meat lovers, the premium tier is where it’s at. The hand-cut short rib is rich, buttery, and an absolute must.
• Seafood is solid too. The butter scallops cooked on the grill were a surprising standout.

Hotpot + Sides
The Japanese-style broth is light and perfect as a palate refresher between BBQ rounds.
And please do yourself a favor and try the pineapple cheese wontons—crispy outside, molten inside, dangerously addictive. Drinks are refillable, and finishing with soft-serve ice cream is the perfect ending.

✨ Service & Atmosphere
• Staff is quick, friendly, and constantly checking in if you need refills.
• Tables are spacious, which makes grilling way easier.
• Parking is surprisingly convenient with plenty of spots around.
• Weekdays are chill; weekends get busy but nothing an online reservation can’t fix.

‍ ‍ Who Should Come?
Great spot for friend gatherings, family dinners, or anyone who wants the best of both worlds—BBQ and hotpot.
If you’re a heavy eater or a die-hard carnivore, just go straight for the premium tier. Trust me.

Final Thoughts
Tons of AYCE places rely on quantity over quality, but this one actually delivers on both. Left full, happy, and already planning my next visit. Come hungry—you’ll need the space!

I found a buffet in Garden Grove that truly surprised me — it’s Premium BBQ combined with Shabu Shabu!

The first thing you notice when you walk in is how spacious it is.
The overall vibe is modern, with comfortable table spacing and high ceilings, so it doesn’t feel noisy at all. Perfect for friend gatherings or even date nights.

Here’s the highlight: this place offers BBQ + hot pot together as an all-you-can-eat option.
Of course, you can also choose just one if you want. Grill when you feel like it, hot pot when you want — everything moves at your own pace.

I personally loved their self-serve ingredient bar.
There’s a wide variety of vegetables, all clean and easy to pick yourself.
Next to it is a huge selection of snacks and side dishes — basically everything you could want: takoyaki, cold tofu, raw octopus, fried chicken bites, crispy chicken wings, stone pot rice, curry rice, and beef bone soup!

The meat selection is also very solid.
Whether you grill it or cook it in the hot pot, everything tastes great, and refills come fast — you can reorder every three minutes!
Options include:
Angus Beef Toro
Angus Beef Tongue
Angus Short Rib
Wagyu Beef Brisket
Wagyu Beef Blade
Wagyu Beef Chuck Eye
Wagyu Ribeye
Chicken Thigh (Garlic Shoyu)
Chicken Thigh (Teriyaki)
…and more.

One super cute detail — the food is delivered by a robot!
Every time it rolls by, everyone can’t help but look. I even saw them helping a guest celebrate a birthday — the vibe here is really fun and lively.
You get a full 2-hour dining time, and all-day BBQ + hot pot is only $53.99!

Overall, this place is perfect for friend gatherings, celebrations, or just when you want a really satisfying meal.
It’s one spot that fulfills two cravings at once — whether you love BBQ or hot pot, this place definitely deserves a spot on your list!
