Highlights here are the people. Such sweet people who own and operate Ongpin. They have a good system down especially for the holidays when the mass orders come in! I had a minimal wait on Thanksgiving morning, no more than 10-15min. Lumpia is always a hit, great value. I decided to give the Turon a try, but it was not a hit, no carmelized glaze, which was unfortunate. I would only stick with the lumpia here.

‼️⚠️ **Racism/Classism experienced

I grew up going here from the 90’s-00’s. With my grandfather & Family.

Me Being Half Chinese- Filipino/Tongan, I never in my entire life did I ever feel mis-treated. Customer service Always good. Food always perfect. Specially their Bistek. With my Asian Side.

Until around 2013/14. My Uncle who is Polynesian, his kids & Former wife & My mother ALSO Polynesian went there to eat.

Customer service with them was different.

Food looked like they took the left overs and threw it on the plate, Inattentive to their calls or request. Mind you, They Paid ALOT of money for their food.

And it was, As if they were deliberatly ignoring them. And My Mother Saw the difference in Treatment, compared to how they treated her, With my father’s side, who is Asian.

I would say This place is Racist against Polynesian people. And to not go there, unless you want to be treated second class as Islanders.

Shame on you Ongpin. I remember going here as a child, passing thru the liquor store entrance to eat at this place & Never experienced racism with My Asian Family.

But, My mother said she could tell the difference when she went in there with her brother. Since they were Polynesian.

When we walked in, the guy in the front told us to hurry up and order because they were closing in an hour. We ordered the pork sisig and palabok, the sisig had large pieces of meat salty and not enough jalapeños. The palabok was dry, no taste and the shrimp wasn’t even cook. You can tell they just threw everything on top of the noodles and they used bihon. It looked more like pancit bihon than palabok. Waste of money ended up throwing it away. You can tell they rushed our order. Terrible food and service! Never going there again!

The food is still good but it was as great when we first came here 8 or 9 years ago. We ordered halo-halo as desert, and the shaved ice is not as fine as other halo-halo places we’ve been to. We were craving for sisig, Ongpin’s versions is too salty, could hardly taste the vinegar.

Sorry to say but, Beef Steak was very hard. Same as the Sisig. if you can see corners of sisig pieces was over cooked from original softness.
Me and my daughter ate most because no choice, we were very hungry.

No frills Filipino restaurant serving all the standard favorites, from breakfast items (x-silog) to classics like sinigang, adobo, and diniguan. Portions are family size for a decent price, and the food is authentic and tasty. Haven’t tried the kamayan (eat with your hands!) but that should be something fun to try if you’re bored with your spoon and fork. Their approach to service is pretty laid back, but that’s not a problem with this casual, local setup.

Got sisig and kare kare. The sisig was ok but why does the kare kare smell burnt? And its not just burnt it smelled like cigarettes. What a decline from how it used to be.

Tocino was delicious. Great char and flavor. Not too fatty but good amount for very juicy delicious pork.
Lechon kawalli was a good crispy, not too fatty again and I really liked it and the sauce it came with.
Sisig pork – also great char and flavor here. Had leftovers and this made for amazing quesadilla filling
Pancit seafood or something – looked a bit bland but I actually really liked the noodles. Had a good depth in the flavor surprisingly.
Lumpia Shanghai was not bad but not as good as some other places (chibog does amazing lumpia)

Ordered 2 calamari here about 2 weeks ago. Under cooked. Huge let down for my daughter who used to love the calamari. This place just wants your money they don’t care about cooking the food with love and care. I used to love the sisig here but they don’t seem to care anymore for customer’s satisfaction. And it does help that prices are high. Atleast make the food with some love!!!

Good, authentic Filipino food and decent prices. Plus, good size servings that are good to share with everyone, family style.
