One Love Island Cuisine caught my eye while I was in the area searching for something different to eat. The food looked authentic, and the reviews were positive, so I decided to give it a try.
I was warmly greeted and smiled upon. My food arrived promptly. The jerk chicken had the perfect balance of spice and flavor. The rice and peas were cooked to perfection, and the gravy on top was a delightful addition. The greens were also delicious.
However, I had a minor complaint about the portion size of the chicken. Based on the pictures and the price, I expected a bit more. I also ordered a chicken patty, which was so good that I wanted to return for another one, but unfortunately, they were all sold out.
Even though I live about an hour away, I would definitely make the drive to try other items on the menu.

I visited One Love Island Cuisine for the first time recently, and I’m already planning my next trip back! The service was incredibly friendly and welcoming right from the start.
I ordered quite a feast: oxtails, jerk chicken, rice and peas, collard greens, and cabbage. Everything was fantastic.
The meats were perfectly tender and falling off the bone, and the sides were seasoned just right. If you are looking for delicious island comfort food, this is the spot.
Don’t miss out on this place! I would highly recommend that you visit and try this delicious food for yourself. Chefs kiss!

Just stopped several minutes ago. Searched for a place on my way exiting Houston and saw this place in Richmond near Riverpark West, just off the highway. Peaceful, cozy, vibrant. Look at the pics! Rasta Pasta and oxtail eggrolls, OMFG!!!

The customer service was phenomenal. The young man working the counter was friendly and patient (I didn’t know what I wanted). The atmosphere was clean and inviting, you can tell they remodeled and updated from the previous owners (used to be a donut shop). There was a woman who came out after I received my order to make sure it was correct. It only took about 10 minutes or so, I did not have to wait long. Be advised, they only are offering a soft opening menu at the moment. I ordered the brown stew chicken (fell off the bone), plantain, cabbage, and a curry chicken patty (this was my favorite). All delicious. My only hiccup, and it’s due to a personal preference, I prefer my plantains cooked a little longer but these were still good. I will definitely be back once the grand opening happens to try the other items.

Nice little neighborhood gem with big flavors! Ordered the oxtails plate with rice and cabbage, jerk wings, and curry chicken patty. The jerk wins are legit. Good grilled flavor, marinated nicely. The jerk sauce they are tossed in gives the wings a mild-medium spice with a hint of sweetness. Oxtails were were cooked well. Easily pulls off the bone, tender chew, and well seasoned. The gravy has good flavor, you can taste the fresh herbs and a mild spice to it(I should have asked for more). Cabbage was cooked the way I like it, tender with a little crunch, not mushy. It could have used a little more pepper imo, but it complemented the richness of the oxtails nicely. My only real critique is the rice, which was a bit more al dente than I would have liked. They give you a lot of food, what I ordered can feed 2 people easily. Curry chicken patty was good too. Good curry flavor, dough was delicate with crispy edges. Service was good, I like how you are shown the plates before they are bagged. It means they take pride in what they are serving and aren’t afraid to show it. It is a small establishment, so please be patient if they are busy. I would definitely eat here again and try more of their offerings.

The moment I walked in, I was pleasantly greeted by Tay! He was very kind and gave me suggestions for their soft opening menu. The oxtail gravy and the texture of rice & beans were great! My dad got their fried chicken and plantains and you can smell the spices in the batter once you open the box. The Mac and cheese has a nice cook on the noodles with a good tangy taste. I will be coming back to try their curry chicken and stewed chicken. The cabbage wasn’t that bee cooked or undercooked. One of the chefs came out and greeted me with a smile with my food! She was very sweet:) Enjoy this new business opening up in the neighborhood 🙂

This place was AMAZING! The fried chicken was like nothing I’ve had before and was delicious! Everyone was super friendly and welcoming, the music was fun, and it all adds to the One Love atmosphere. Expect to leave full as the servings are generous. Ask about oxtail gravy on the rice and peas. Can’t wait to go back!

I didn’t expect to find top notch food outside of the Houston area. This place is a 10! The Jerk chicken plate was so good. The rice and peas are seasoned well with just a hint of spice. The plantain had that crispy edge that I love. You haven’t lived until you taste the oxtail egg rolls. Life changing! My only disappointment is that it is so close to my home. I Will be gaining 15lbs.

I ordered the Jerk chicken. It was seasoned well, it came with rice and peas and i got a side of Mac and cheese. I was not impressed at all with Mac and cheese and the rice and peas were just ok, kinda dry. My husband ordered the Rasta Pasta .. HUGE Disappointment, he literally got a plate full of pasta with One.. that’s right one Oxtail, no other meat just peppers and sauce and one tuff Oxtail. We also ordered the curry chicken, he said it was good, he paid for an extra side of Greens. It wasn’t even a half cup. I mean dang the portions were so small. I understand its a small mom and pop and maybe they cannot give the portion size that a soul food restaurant would give.. but yall gotta do better with the portions, if you want people to continue to come. The beef patties were pretty good.. I would also maybe recommend that the manager or whomever the lady is that said she was half Haitian maybe stay in the back because she did not have good customer service.. thankfully the lady who took the order at the register was very nice and pleasant.
We also ordered the rum cake.. it wasn’t good..
All In all it was just ok.. nice and clean. But I don’t have to go back.
