This is EXACTLY what a French bistro is like! So darling and intimate inside. Our server was lovely and made sure everything was perfect.

I had the French onion soup and the beef bourgignone. I would have liked more cheese on the soup, but the beef was PERFECTION, fall apart tender with just the right amount of wine in the sauce.

We will absolutely be making this a staple of our trips to Nashville!

Dining at Once Upon a Time in France was an absolutely wonderful experience. It’s a short drive from downtown Nashville, but worth every minute. The moment you step inside, you feel like you’ve been transported straight to a charming little corner of France—the décor, lighting, and atmosphere are warm, intimate, and authentically Parisian.

We ordered a variety of dishes, and every single one was beautifully prepared and bursting with flavor. The presentation was elegant, and you could tell each plate was made with care. The service was excellent, attentive yet relaxed, and the ambience made the entire experience feel special.

What really stood out was how much we enjoyed every bite—even our child loved the food and finished the whole meal! That alone says a lot. We lingered longer than planned, as we simply didn’t want to leave.

We’ll definitely be back, and I’d highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a truly memorable French dining experience in Nashville.

We had a lovely dining experience here from beginning to end! Our server was Emily, and she was indeed a delight. We started with a drink special which was red wine with crème de cassis. So good! We tried two appetizers: assiette de fromages (cheese platter) and rosette de Lyon (salami with salad and baguette). Both were just enough for 4 people to share as a nice starter to enjoy with a drink. We had filet mignon with potatoes gratin dauphinois and boeuf Bourguignon, and both dishes were exceptionally delicious! We ordered bread for sopping because it was a must with such wonderful sauces. Desserts we tried were the créme brûlée and the café gourmand. Delicious as well. The crème brûlée is one of the best I’ve had anywhere. It’s such great food and not pretentious at all! Plus they take reservations now! Go! You will feel you’ve been transported to France for the evening. Many thanks to everyone there. We look forward to visiting again.

The name of this restaurant says it all—you walk in and immediately feel as if you’ve stepped into a little corner of France. The décor is warm and cozy, creating an intimate atmosphere that would make a nice choice for a casual date or a quiet evening out. However, the space is quite small, so it can feel a bit cramped during busy hours. The service was average; the servers seemed somewhat distracted and inattentive, which, to be fair, is something I’ve come to expect at many traditional French restaurants. Still, a bit more customer attention would have gone a long way in improving the experience.
For food, I ordered two classic French dishes to evaluate their authenticity—escargot and duck confit—but sadly, both fell short of expectations. The escargot appeared to be overcooked from frozen, leaving the meat rubbery and preventing the garlic butter from soaking in properly. The accompanying bread was burnt and dry, further disappointing. I happened to sit near the kitchen door and noticed the chef discarding what looked like pre-made frozen portions.
The duck confit didn’t fare better. The skin wasn’t crispy, the meat was dry and overly salty, and the entire dish felt heavy with thick potato wedges piled underneath. To make matters worse, the duck and potatoes were placed directly on top of the salad greens, wilting them into a soggy mess. The duck itself was cold inside despite being cooked, another sign of reheating from frozen.
Overall, while the ambiance offers an inviting glimpse of France, the food quality and service fail to deliver an authentic or memorable dining experience. It might suit a quick date night for the atmosphere, but not for anyone hoping to taste true French cuisine.

Amazing! Just visited for the first time tonight. We had a scallop/mushroom appetizer that was heavenly (and a family recipe from Lyon). We had trout (wow!) and beef bourguignon (yum!). We had a cider from Brittney and the house red which was very good. Dessert was the sampler with a lemon curd, chocolate mousse, and a macaroon wand decaf coffee. All were perfect. We will be back very soon.

Service was great. Charming interior. Food was nothing to write home about, but not bad if trying French cuisine for the first time. We quite liked the french onion soup and the cheese platter. Overall, good for Nashville standards.

My wife and I had a great night at Once Upon A Time In France. Delicious food, cozy atmosphere, and top notch service. Truly a gem in Nashville. We had the Boeuf Bourguignon, Confit de Canard, Le Steak Tartare, Escargots de Bourgogne, and Crème Brûlée. We highly recommend coming here if you’re looking for some authentic French cuisine in Nashville.

Expanding my culinary experiences, French food is considered to be the best in the world. I can honestly say it was delicious. I even ate a dish that I thought I would ever eat, Escargots and it was divine. The butter for it was so good, that my little sister got it on her steak. I went with the Duck Confit, it was so good. Highly recommend this place. Thank you for making my first time eating French food one to remember.

Had the best evening here! The environment was welcoming and cozy. We definitely recommend requesting the Chef Experience when you make your reservation. 5 courses with wines pairings, a great way to try so many things! Everything we had was delicious.
